We tested the CXU against our existing CD player as we wondered whether it could really replace it in sound quality terms, plus give us the bonus of repacing our DAC and Blu Ray too. In short it lifted a veil from the sound of CD and added deeper,...

Films have never looked so good, the picture as hooked up to my new 55” 4K Sony is stunning. The blu-ray experience is so superior to the admittedly admirable job it does of upscaling DVDs that it's causing me to replace my DVD collection one by one -...
stunning visuals ; outrageous sound ; input options ; great remote
fiddly audio-visual sync

This player will handle just about any disc. I use bluray rewriteables and it plays them as it does with dvd rw. Sound and picture quality are excellent. If you are not bothered about 4K and want a top class player which costs £499, go for it. It was...

Bought this to replace a Denon 2190 universal DVD player that was getting a bit twitchy at 12 years old (hit top to get the disc draw to open..) decided i couldn't be arsed with vinyl or streaming/downloads - i want to continue to spin shiny 12cm discs...
sound quality and versatility at a great price.

A truly great piece of equipment. I have only had time so far to play dvd and Blu-ray but I've had no trouble navigating the remote. To give a fuller review you will have to ask me later.

Had this thing over a month now, so far deeply unimpressed. It plays cd, dvd's and blurays. many other machines also do that though. It struggled to find my home network even though its ethernet connected into it rather than WiFi. the 'Picasa' app...
it comes in a sturdy cardboard box
over rated and over priced , i should have known better.

This is a must have product. It's a steal at £499, but well worth the original full price which we would have paid as a CD player the sound quality is unbelievable and as a DVD play breathtaking picture quality. Grab one now you won't regret it.

I run a combined music and Home Theatre set up and have been contemplating a universal disc player purchase for a little while. The desire was driven partly by a wish to upgrade the stereo source quality but also to reduce the "box" count. CA's...
analogue sound quality , build quality
Consumer review (richersounds.com)
The Cambridge CXU, which was perhaps a little over-priced when it first appeared, is now much more reasonable. Its multiple features allow it to integrate well with the other CX products. The only mild criticism I have is that it could have more than...
flexibility of use
handbook could be better

In a moment of impulse I wanted to change my old Sony Blue-Ray player for something more CD friendly. I read a few reviews and went for the Cambridge CXU as it was very versatile and well respected. Boy o' Boy it didn't disappoint. It has given my...
