Yamaha RX-V659B

As long you don't need HDMI compatibility, the Yamaha RX-V659 A/V receiver offers good sound quality, a full panoply of features and a solid value.

Well-equipped midrange 7.1-channel receiver ; Features an optional iPod dock ; Easy-to-use autosetup ; Component-video conversion ; Dedicated turntable input ; A/B speaker switching

No HDMI inputs or outputs ; iPod dock must be purchased separately

My thanks to Frank at Tweeter for recommending this receiver. it's perfect! What a match for our 50" HD Panasonic Plasma TV and Polk Surround Speakers.

User-friendly, excellent sound quality. You don't have to spend a lot to have a nice home theater system

No complaints from me

Good

7 channels of ear popping high-current power. Great build quality with one exception. Long power cord for easy locating. Large, bright and clear front display. Auto EQ system makes problem room acoustics a thing of the past. More inputs and outputs...

No phono jack means an external pre-amplifier is required if you still want to use a record player. Front panel switches and volume knob are plastic, unlike the rest of the unit, which is solid metal. Very heavy - watch your back when moving this thing.

Excellent

Bought this in Sep 2006 and still love it. Sound is amazing and love the YPAO mic for setup. When we moved house it took me less that 5 minutes to setup the speakers to the correct settings using YPAO. Although it does not have HDMI it does have full...

Pure sound and great clarity. Lots of power and great easy setup with YPAO Microphone.

No HDMI but no the end of the world. Can still use external 7.1 input for Blu-ray formats.
