Sonos ZP100 Digital Music System

There have been a few low-cost, wireless options that have emerged recently, but none look so good or show as much promise as the Sonos digital music system...

Very easy to use, generally reliable, cool factor is off the scale ;

Set-up can be fiddly, especially if there are computer firewalls involved, range isn't all it's cracked up to be

Because the real beauty of the Sonos system is that you don't have to see it. It consists of one or more boxes, or 'ZonePlayers' containing contains a 50-watt amp (plenty of power for average rooms) which can link wirelessly to each other using Sonos's...

Sonos ZonePlayer ZP100

Supports MP3: Yes, Supports WMA: Yes, Shows Video: No

Simple, elegant, effortless. Plays the same music simultaneously in multiple rooms, or different music in different rooms. Reads directly from network hard disks.

No on-screen (TV) display. Costly compared to simpler digital audio hubs. No photos or video display. Won't play WMA lossless or DRM audio, FLAC, or Ogg Vorbis files, yet.

Sonos comes through with the best and easiest audio-only media hub we've seen so far. The ZonePlayer ZP100 is expensive for an audio hub, but cheap compared with other whole-house audio systems.

Sonos Digital Music System ZP100 + CR100

Music streaming, internet radio and effortless multi-room playback - Sonos has built possibly the greatest gadget since the PVR.

Effortless streaming; good file support; gorgeous design; multi-room capability

No support for DRM-protected files; very pricey

GOOD DIGITAL MUSIC SYSTEM

if you're talking about mp3's the lack of an optical output doesn't matter, and I guess most people just do mp3's anyway, so the sonos should probably do it for most people, although people who are more serious about HiFi audio quality, will certainly...

not expensive at all

lack of an optical output

A MULTI ROOM MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM INSTALLED IN MINUTES

Had the Sonos for 3 months now and looking to increase the system to 5 rooms from 2. Really is simple to install and operate, our 4 year daughter can even use it. Sound is superb using FLAC lossless music file conversion, and love having our 1200 CD...

Very easy to install ; No wires between zoneplayers ; Plays FLAC lossless audio as well as MP3 ; Scroll through your music library on the wireless controller ; Can be custom installed ; Takes local input audio and also plays internet radio

Not video capable ; Needs a minumum of 2 zoneplayers to be effective ; PC has to on or a NAS drive used ; Can be expensive
