This is a very solid boxing sim that does have a learning curve, but it less arcade-like than Fight Night 3. I like them both, but for different reasons. Overall, Prizefighter is a good boxing sim for the patient boxing fan.
A true boxing sim. Great career mode. Nice boxing history
Slightly slow response times for controls. Steep learning curve to get all punches learned. Tough to get momentum going in some fights

Like a shoot 'em up's dazzling array of weapons, or a puzzler's selection of devious brain-ticklers, the one thing a boxing sim should deliver above all else is a convincing sense of pain. Sadly, with action that feels weedy and clumsy beside EA's...

Boxing spectacle or pugilistic mediocrity?
Definitely worth your time if you're a boxing fan, but not quite the game to wrestle away Fight Night's crown.

Complicated and unresponsive controls combined with uninteresting gameplay and a disjointed story keeps Prizefighter down for the count.

Only in America could a game be this crappy.
After you play this game for more then an hour there's really no reason to ever play it again. Sure there's online but would anybody actually play this game online? I certainly hope not. Overall this game plays like crap, looks like crap, sounds like...
Take my word on this and steer far away from this game.

It's probably fair to say that the glory days of boxing have passed us by; when as a kid I'd stay up until 4am to see Tyson hammer someone around the ring. The failure of boxing to capture the imagination of the masses also might have something to do...
Does the latest big-time boxing game stay on its feet, or does it stay down for the count?

We all know EA's Fight Night series is known by many as THE boxing franchise every gamer needs to experience, and frankly, it was easy to say since they were the only ones publishing boxing games. But, 2K Sports, who's constantly competing with EA...
Good presentation ; Venues are well rendered ; Videos and historic facts are interesting ; Career Mode
Clunky and unresponsive controls ; Collision bugs in a boxing game ; Sounds, commentary and voice-overs are okay but not great ; Soundtrack needed more Hip Hop ; Control scheme isn't the best ; Mario Van Peebles
Did I say the game featured Online play? No? Well it does. It’s a cool addition to have online play in a boxing game and Prizefighter has that...but it doesn’t make the game any better. Cool thing though: no lag was seen during our testing sessions....

Don King tends to raise expectations. Unfortunately, Don King Presents: Prizefighter just doesn't meet them. What it does, though, is provide a solid career mode and a couple hours of multiplayer fun.

Don King Presents: Mediocre game
Deep and interesting story mode with high production values
Sluggish boxing action lacking fluid and responsive controls; no true career mode
Don King Presents: Prizefighter has a unique story mode covering aspects of boxing seldom broached in other titles. The game is chock full of high production values, great graphics, and immersive audio. But a boxing game needs first rate controls to be...
