Ryse Son of Rome review

Ryse Son Of Rome is one of the best looking titles on the Xbox One. It's a pity that the rest of the game isn't up to scratch

Ancient Rome ; Wonderful visuals ; Nos morituri te salutamu

Dumb, dumb DUMB story ; Shonky mechanics ; Bad game design

Sorry, comments aren't working right now.

Ryse: Son of Rome

Not as bad as leaking drains, not as good as a lemon sherbert

Huge cinematic spectacle ; Surprisingly engaging combat ; A simple but entertaining story

No long-term depth ; Shallow and repetitive ; Gratuitously gruesome

Ryse is a big, dumb, shallow, mindless blockbuster of a game, yet one that hooks you with its epic spectacle and can be strangely compelling in short-ish doses. In the words of Maximus Decimus Meridius, “Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are...

Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One)

Developer Crytek may have made a name for itself for fast paced and impressive looking first-person shooters, but with Ryse: Son of Rome it experiments with the third-person action genre. Arriving in time for the Xbox One launch, Ryse is also a...

Highly impressive graphics ; Solid combat mechanic

Quick time based executions ; Limited overall scale

Ryse: Son of Rome brings with it enough visual pizzazz to impress anyone, though what you see is pretty much what you get.

Ryse: Son of Rome review

Stunning visuals, light on gameplay.

Ryse: Son of Rome has some great ideas, but bland gameplay holds it back from capitalising on uncharted waters. The combat and execution mechanics are serviceable, but not particularly engrossing, and the ranged and formation segments feel horribly...

Epic game

This is an epic game, the graphics are stunning and the action ultra realistic, once you get use to the controls it's very intuitive, slash, block, stab, stab, stab... Oh did I mention it's a tad on the bloody side. Definitely recommend this game. Hope...
