Pikmin 3 review

Nintendo dusts off its horticultural real-time strategy series but will Pikmin 3 blossom on the Wii U?

Pikmin 3’s loveable take on real-time strategy brings some much needed quality to the Wii U

Pikmin 3

Pikmin 3 is the best ever Pikmin, and a cracking example of what Nintendo still does best.

Gorgeous CGI cartoon graphics ; New emphasis on exploration and adventure ; Bigger, deeper and richer than it first appears

Grows a little (and only a little) repetitive with time ; Pikmin very vulnerable while you're not in direct control

All of this is brilliant, but what makes Pikmin 3 so deep and rewarding is that it’s got a sense of exploration and adventure that previous Pikmins didn’t really have. Every day you can choose which of the unlocked areas of the planet your spaceship...

Pikmin 3 Review

Strategic combat and rewarding exploration make the adorable Pikmin 3 a satisfying adventure in planetary survival.

Massive levels that reward exploration ; Exciting combat encounters ; Hectic competitive mode ; Mission mode ups the challenge considerably ; Lovely artistic design

Neither control method is ideal ; Pikmin have poor pathfinding

Death is not handled lightly in Pikmin 3. When one of your friends falls in battle, its soul floats upward from its body into the clear blue sky. It's heartbreaking to see a group of souls soar toward heaven after a difficult fight, and that constant...

A beautiful-looking and beautiful-playing video game.

Genuinely beautiful to look at ; Has a wicked sadistic streak ; Smart, engaging and witty

Occasionally fiddly controls on Gamepad

Pikmin 3

After missing the launch by eight months, Pikmin 3 finally arrives on Wii U.

Pikmin 3 was a joy to play, from start to finish, and will continue being so as I make my way through all of the challenges. The game is outright adorable, and you’ll be hard-pressed not to crack a few grins at the army of loyal idiots following your...

Bittersweet Victories In Pikmin 3 Showcase The Harsh Realities Of Nature

Part of satisfying combat is not just a sense of accomplishment earned after an epic, high-stakes battle, but a genuine feeling of regret regarding the sacrifices you had to make to get there.

Pikmin 3 review

The Wii U game you, or at least I, have been waiting for.

Pikmin 3 is the game I’ve been waiting nearly a decade for. It doesn’t do a lot to change the formula, but rather polishes something not seen since the GameCube. If you can overlook a few control wobbles, which is easily done by playing with the Wii...

Pikmin 3 Review

Pikmin 3 is quintessential, classic Nintendo, the Nintendo we know and love, the one that makes us buy every console regardless of our doubts and hang-ups.

Really captures the ‘Nintendo’ spirit; Exploring and finding new items is a joy; Level design is great; The GamePad map genuinely enhances the experience

Some weak textures; Pikmin A.I. can be a little dim; Controls aren’t perfect, no matter what method you use
