Mario Kart 8

It doesn't reinvent the Kart wheel, but who cares when it's this much fun?

Classic Mario Kart gameplay ; Anti-grav tracks add vertiginous new twists ; Unbeatable line-up of characters and courses ; Superb cartoon graphics ; Excellent online play

Some minor balance issues ; Can’t switch racers without leaving online session

There are some minor balancing issues and a few minor niggles, but this is a storming Mario Kart, with the pedal to the metal and the rev counter up beyond the redline.

Mario Kart 8 Review

Nintendo gets a lot of flak for continually revisiting its old series and not creating enough “new stuff”. Mario Kart is a prime example of this, but with Mario Kart 8 Nintendo proves that following the old formula does not make for a stale gaming...

Mario Kart 8

It's difficult to sum up an experience like the pure joy of playing a new Mario Kart game for the first time. I have quite a personal relationship with the series, having played most of the different versions all through my childhood and up to the...

As I say, this is only a minor problem and what little problems the game has are vastly overshadowed by the sheer quality and fun on offer. Mario Kart 8 is the best version of the franchise I have played, has already proved itself a great experience...

Mario Kart 8 Review

It may just be more Mario Kart, but that continues to be no bad thing.

Still the best kart racer around ; Local multiplayer is untouchable ; Majority of new tracks are great

Some poor retro track choices

Mario Kart 8 (for Wii U)

Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Wii U is the best-looking Mario Kart to date (and the first with HD graphics), thanks to some fantastic new and remixed tracks.

Rock-solid, fun core gameplay. Excellent HD graphics. Uploadable race video. Finally lets you block the blue shell

Battle Mode is neutered. Online multiplayer features needs work

Mario Kart's back, this time on the Nintendo Wii U! This makes the eighth game Nintendo has produced in the series, since it first came out for the Super NES, and with the exception of the Virtual Boy it has been present on every game system Nintendo...

Mario Kart 8 Review

One over the eight

Rainbow Road, which is so beautiful and awe -inspiring that epic songs should be penned about it right now and passed down from generation to generation

The AI has undoubtedly improved, but it's still immensely irritating at times

Mario Kart 8 is pretty great in many ways, but undoubtedly moreso with a collection of friends to play with, or when facing off against other players online. Solo racers still have a solid game to enjoy, but the occasionally-infuriating AI and no real...

17 years later Reagan returns to a franchise that left him bored and unimpressed despite the furor of the Nintendo fanbase.

Nintendo gets back on track with Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's most loved franchises, and it's a testament to the strength of its core gameplay how little it has changed since its inception. While the latest entry might not bring much new to the table, its fast-paced, re-tuned...

Luckily, the game’s karting mechanics are every bit as slick as the visuals. Playing on the more difficult 150 cc mode, gameplay is fast paced, smooth and challenging. The title packs 32 great tracks, half of which are remakes from older franchise...

Murdered: Soul Suspect

A good murder mystery keeps its audience engaged, on edge, and guessing incorrectly until the killer is revealed. As the puzzle pieces come together and the list of suspects narrows, our vested interest in the mystery almost always turns into a...
