Sony KD-75XD9405

The KD-75XD9405 is a 75-inch TV – yes, that's 75 inches – boasting a native 4K resolution, HDR support, Android TV smarts, and a premium direct LED lighting system in place of the edge LED lighting used by the previously reviewed Sony KD-65XD9305.

Sony KD-75XD9405 review

From HDR to 4K to 3D, Sony's 75XD9405 delivers the home cinema goods

Outstanding picture quality ; Slim design ; Huge, immersive screen ; HDR works well

Minor clouding with HDR ; Android TV is clunky ; Horrible remote control ; No other screen sizes

With its vast, cinematic screen and ability to deliver stunning picture quality whatever the source, the 75XD9405 is a contender for the best TV of 2016. If you can afford to shell out £5,000 on a TV, make it this one.

Sony KD-75XD9405 review

Sony's flagship 4K telly is a serious showstopper...

Generous smart offering ; HDR compatibility ; Sharp and stable 4K picture ; Capable upscaler ; Smooth motion handling ; Nice design

Nothing we can think of

Going all-out with compatibility and picture performance, Sony’s flagship is the one to beat

Sony XD9405 4K TV review: The 75-inch UHD wonder

Love movies? Got a big living room? Feeling flush this month? Then Sony thinks it has just the ticket for you in the shape of its new flagship TV, the KD-75XD9405. The 75XD9405 won't be for everyone because it's simply too big and too expensive for any...

The 75XD9405’s direct LED lighting system delivers more convincing high dynamic-range pictures than any edge LED TV to date; the Triluminos system handles the new wide colour spectrum content beautifully; vast 75-inch screen delivers maximum impact...

Android TV smart system continues to feel unfocussed and unhelpful; new remote control Sony has introduced this year is horrible; during dark HDR scenes you can sometimes see light blooming issues around bright objects; £5K is a lot of money to blow on...

The 75XD9405 won't be for everyone because it's simply too big and too expensive for any sort of mass market consumption. Which makes us wish, actually, that Sony did 65-inch and 55-inch XD9405 models too, rather than sticking to a single king-sized...

Sony XD94 (KD-75XD9405) Ultra HD 4K TV Review

The XD94 is Sony's flagship Ultra HD 4K TV for 2016 and as such it includes HDR, 3D and Android TV but, despite removing the big speakers, is it just...

Impressive black levels ; Excellent local dimming ; Superb image accuracy ; Great video processing ; Fantastic sound quality

Clipping with HDR 10 material ; Smart platform still needs work ; 3D suffers from crosstalk

If you're looking for a really large screen TV then the Sony KD-75XD9405 should definitely be on your list and at £4,999 it might well be the only one on your list. The XD94 isn't only very reasonably priced, it's rather pretty and despite the 75-inch...

Sony Bravia KD75XD9405BU

Superb picture from terrestrial TV, satellite and when streaming from the internet - Netflix and Amazon Prime. It upscales very well from these sources and also from a Bluray player and a Foxsat. I don't use the TV's speakers; instead I use a new Sony...

Not yet been able to connect to computers on my home network, but I believe that this ought to be possible if I persevere. Airplay Mirroring to the TV from Apple devices seems to be impossible.
