Sony KD-55XD9305 4K HDR TV review

4K UHD streaming backed by Sony's X1 processor

Ultra thin, minimalist design ; 4K UHD picture quality ; HDCP 2.2 compatibility ; 4K Netflix and Amazon onboard ; High-quality HD upscaling

Wearisome Android smart TV platform ; Gruesome no-button remote control ; Audio is passable at best

Sony's hero HDR 4K TV for 2016 is a triumph of design and image ingenuity, but usability remains its Achilles' heel.

Sony KD-55XD9305 review

This slimline 4K HDR TV is a technological tour de force and a great start for Sony's 2016 TV range

Sharp, detailed picture ; Great handling of motion ; HDR significantly improves picture quality ; Easy and fast to use ; Natural colours

Remote not easiest to use ; Picture doesn’t go quite as dark or bright as some competitors

This is what we want from an HDR set. It doesn’t reach the absolute blacks or brightness of some rivals, but the Sony XD93 trumps most of them where it matters: subtlety

Sony KD-55XD9305 review

The Sony KD-55XD9305 is Sony's top 55-inch TV for 2016. Picture quality from this 4K HDR TV is as good as anything we've seen, thank to Sony's new Slim Backlight Drive, Triluminos display technology and X1 processor. The TV comes with Android TV,...

We're wary of awarding the Sony KD-55XD9305 a 5 star rating. In many ways it deserves it, but the fly in the ointment remains the Android operating system. If Sony can prove that the problems that plagued it last year have been consigned to the bin of...

Great picture. Appalling Android. Broken already

The picture, and especially motion handling, are incredible. However, Android is appalling, buggy, and slower than a 1980's personal computer. No one would put up with this on a computer, why should I on a very expensive TV? The main circuit board has...

The pros outweigh the lows

I purchased this TV recently, it is Sonys 2016 highe end model. The picture is brilliant, and the upscaler is extremely good. The only negative is the delay in using the Smart functions, it is slow. But I use Sky so it counteracts the issue. Overall an...

Quality Picture & Sound but has issues.

The Bottom line is it's inability to use satellite TV with Youview operating. Very disappointed. If you use Satellite you lose 50% of the on the demand / catch up programmes. Product description not truthful on this point.

Sony 55XD9305 Android TV

The first Android TV I have owned, took a bit getting used to, but once you get used to it very friendly. The colours are amazing, especially the 4k, the 3D is brilliant and I am very happy with the TV.
