Easy to install and set up
It's quite heavy, requires two of you to hang it on the wall, but other than that everything seems fine, viewing and sound quality is good although I'm no connoisseur

A PDP driven at 50 Hz causes an annoying flicker due to a shortage in the number of pictures displayed per second. Therefore, each picture is displayed twice as if the PDP is driven at 100Hz double scan, i.e., the number of pictures displayed is increased to reduce the flicker.Next-generation black reproduction has been achieved by improving the panel production process, incorporating the Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system), and raising the base illumination. Even in...

You might scoff at a £700 set that doesn't boast Full HD, but don't write off this Panny yet – it could just surprise you
Get beyond the unglamorous resolution and the TX-P42X10B is nothing but fantastic value

Hot on the heals of its 50in cousin, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 looks like a bit of a bargain.
As far as picture quality, design and features go, the TX-P42X10 is not Panasonic's finest hour. However, when it comes to value for money, this set, like the TX-P50X10, beggars belief. It may not be Full HD, and it may not offer the last word in...

Panasonic continues to fly the plasma flag with its latest 37in telly.
If you're a devoted film lover on a tight budget, the P37X10's stunning black level response is arguably enough in itself to make it irresistible value for money. Certainly it can help many film scenes look more natural and engaging than I've seen them...

If you're after a 50in plasma TV that won't break the bank, the Panasonic TX-P50X10 could be the one.
The colour issues noted with the P50X10's standard definition pictures stop me being able to give the P50X10 any higher than eight for picture quality, as was the case with the P37X10. But the P50X10's marginally superior HD efforts and, in particular,...

The Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10B isn't one for the committed videophile -- or audiophile, for that matter -- but it's a brilliant TV for people who want a large screen, without having to cough up £2,000. Picture quality is very good and the screen is...
Picture quality is good with Freeview and very good with hi-def content ; Simple to use ; Good price
Sound quality lets the set down
Conclusion There were times when we noticed that the Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10B's picture looked less detailed than 1080p sets we've tested. That said, most people simply won't be able to tell. Panasonic has produced a sturdy, well-priced TV that...
If you can afford it, go for a 1080p television, but, if you're on a budget, the TX-P50X10B will suit you perfectly

If you're looking for a great-value set that excels with Freeview and DVD, this could be ideal. But Blu-ray fans can buy better
Produces deep blacks ; decent Freeview tuner ; copes well with movement ; good speakers ; price
Struggles to show finer detail ; lacks image depth and realism of class-leading sets

Get beyond the unglamorous resolution and the TX-P42X10B is nothing but value
Great picture performance at the price ; pleasant enough design
Gives some detail and definition away to Full HD screens
By John Archer (avreview.co.uk)
The P50X10 sports a rather dour image, it has to be said. It's just a rather plasticky black rectangle, really. It also 'only' has three HDMIs rather than the four found on some of its rivals today.
Superb HD picture performer, excellent black level response, ridiculously good value, wide viewing angle
Some rogue colours, especially with standard def; a little judder; it's not full HD

Excellent contrast and very deep blacks ; Excellent input lag
No movement smoothing system ; Definition just 1024 x 768 pixels ; Electrical consumption
The P42X10 isn't a TV for anybody who wants a large display. If you're too close to the screen, then the lack of sharpness and detail is all too obvious. You need to sit a little way back to compensate for these problems.
Cinema mode is generally the one we use. Wherever possible, we set the white levels at 200 cd/m².

Even in movie scenes where it is difficult to achieve a fine balance of light and dark, VIERA renders images just as the director intended.VIERA Link allows interconnected operation of various AV devices using only the VIERA remote control, by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable. VIERA Link performance has been further enhanced with LUMIX digital camera connection. By connecting a LUMIX camera that has an HDMI output terminal to VIERA, you can use the VIERA remote to control the playback of images stored on the camera. It's easy to view photo images with the SD memory card slot. Watch and show your photos right after you take them. Simply insert an SD memory card into VIERA to display photos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music.V-Audio Surround gives depth-sound-image effect by early-reflection data based on actual room measurement that is generated from digital signal processor.
