JVC EM55FTR

 

JVC's Emerald series of HDTVs with Roku deliver decent performance and connected features at a reasonable price.

Inexpensive. Includes Roku Streaming Stick. Solid contrast and warm picture.

Roku Streaming Stick leaves only two HDMI ports free for other devices. Uneven color accuracy. Shadow details can look occasionally washed out.

Power and Conclusion Under normal viewing conditions, the EM55FTR consumes 100 watts. The screen doesn't have any notable power saving features. It falls squarely in the middle of the road for power use, comparable to the Vizio E550i-B2's 103 watts....

JVC EM55FTR 1080p LED TV

 

The new licensees of the JVC brand (AmTran, Taiwan) have produced a compelling price sensitive model in the Emerald series LED TVs. This aggressively priced TV features some nice basics that will appeal to those needing a budget priced TV.

While this is not a high end TV, it does contain two 15W speakers that produce decent if not a bit hollowed out sound. The slightly deeper cabinet of course provides a bit more room for these inbuilt speakers

You get what you pay for. During the set-up, it did a channel scan, which took a good 10-15 minutes to complete. After it was finished, the whole scanning screen remained lightly burned into the screen. Hard to judge the picture, since it's obscured...
