Asus Transformer Prime review

It may be getting on, but don't underestimate the Prime

Light and portable ; Highly readable screen ; Fast processor ; Smooth HD video ; Great for games

Average camera ; Screen not as good as Galaxy Tab 10.1 ; Minor recording bugs ; Still pricey

If you're looking for a full-blown Android tablet experience, with the added functionality and usability of a netbook-sized QWERTY keyboard then you can't go far wrong with the Asus Transformer Prime.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime review

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is set to make its mark in the Android tablet market, but can it take the top spot?

Quadcore processor ; Brilliant screen ; Battery-boosting keyoard dock

Heavier than standalone tabs ; No USB charging

We can’t make our minds up if this is more tablet than laptop or vice versa, but we can be sure of is that this is a great all round piece of kit that also looks the part. It’s packing one of the best keyboard docks we’ve seen and is supremely powerful...

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime review

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime isn't a robot in disguise, but it does have a few tricks up its sleeve that any Autobot or Decepticon would be proud of. This new Transformer improves upon the original version from earlier this year, adds more power...

Design, Tegra 3 processor, updatable to Ice Cream Sandwich, detachable keyboard

Heavy when combined with the docking station, doesn't have ICS just yet

If you're after a new Honeycomb tablet, this could very well be your next purchase

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime 32GB

The burning question with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer prime release, as with any tablet, is this: is it better than the Apple iPad 2?

Light and portable ; Highly readable screen ; Fast processor ; Smooth HD video ; Great for games

Average camera ; Screen not as colourful as Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 ; Some minor recording bugs ; Movie rentals did not work ; App selection

In one case, while shooting a video, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime suddenly went in and out of focus sporadically, trying to focus on the subject. The problem never happened again, though. Next Page: Verdict

Asus ZenBook Prime Touch review

The brushed metal casing might owe an obvious debt to the MacBook Air, but the dark, silvery-grey top panel looks impeccably classy, while the edge-to-edge glass on the screen panel makes the chunky metal bezel of the MacBook Air look rather dated. The...

The ZenBook Prime Touch still looks great, and combines desktop-level performance with a slimline design that is extremely portable. However, the failure to provide a battery-efficient Haswell update is a missed opportunity, and means that the ZenBook...

Asus Transformer Prime TF201 Mobile Docking Station review

This keyboard dock adds 1.2 pounds and just 0.4 inch to the Transformer Prime. Unlike the original Transformer--which bulks up to the size of an average netbook with its dock--the Transformer Prime remains under an inch thick at only 0.75 inch with its...

The Transformer Prime's keyboard dock improves on that of the original Transformer by packing the same ports and extra battery life into an even slimmer and lighter package. Unfortunately, the keys remain cramped.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime review

The build quality is of a high standard with a premium feel to the product. The Eee Pad Transformer Prime feels sturdy in the hand with its strong and durable metal casing. A minor design quibble is that an inserted microSD card sticks out a few...

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime is a well-designed and well-built product that has been executed superbly. Not only does it look great it has a long list of impressive specifications and features. Its hybrid nature sets it apart from the competition...

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

The Transformer Prime is the best marriage of screen and keyboard we've seen in a tablet. The quad-core Tegra 3 processor gives it professional-level performance, and battery life is excellent too.

Superb screen ; Great battery life ; Comes with a keyboard dock that adds a second battery ; Supports USB and SD card expansion via the keyboard dock

Not available without keyboard dock ; Tends to topple over if you tap the screen when it's docked to the keyboard ; Short of business software ; No integrated mobile broadband option

Like its Transformer predecessor, the Eee Pad Transformer Prime impressed us greatly. Quite simply, it's the best marriage of screen and keyboard we've seen in a tablet.

Asus' original Transformer was Stuff's Product of the Year 2011, and the new Prime is all that and more. With a quad-core Tegra 3 processor inside, it's the fastest tablet ever.
