its a wonderful upgrade coming from a 504.... bottom line when it works it really works and when it freezes make sure u have a small pin for the reset button on the button............. the reset button on the top was not responsive on my model......

screen size,touch screen

buggy, reset button way too small should have include a pin to push it, the headphone input feels like it should be on the right size instead of the left, the nickel and dime aspect ....wouldnt mind a h624 support for vid files (non podcast)

Archos 5 Internet Tablet review

By Chris Hall (pocket-lint.com)

Archos brings Android into the fold with the Archos 5 Internet Tablet. Archos very much pitch their device against the iPod touch, which has enjoyed great successes. It is perhaps a comparison that does the Archos 5 Internet Tablet few favours. Yes,...

Video playback, high resolution display

Android OS offers little of the convenience of the Google Android experience, poor battery, no multi-touch support

The Archos 5's strong point is media playback and the Internet Tablet side of things don't fall into place as much as you might want them too, with the iPod touch offering a better online experience and greater freedom and diversity

Does this offer more than just video playback?

Archos Archos 5 Internet Tablet review

By (expertreviews.co.uk)

The Archos 5 Internet Tablet (A5IT) is the first device we've seen to run the Android mobile operating system that isn't a mobile phone. It's slim personal media player with a 4.8in touchscreen and wireless netowk wireless networking. All this means...

Android makes it more than just a media player, but we recommend waiting for an update to version 1.6 before you buy.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet

By Riyad Emeran (trustedreviews.com)

Is the latest Android powered Archos the ultimate portable media player?

Putting aside the teething issues with this device, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is a very well featured portable media player, that is, in many respects, a joy to use. The 4.8in screen makes this a first rate video player, while the extensive codec...

Music playback is also impressive, while support for both Ogg and Flac should make audiophile types happy.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet review

By Frank Lewis (cnet.co.uk)

Video looks great on the Archos 5 Internet Tablet's huge screen, and its audio performance is also highly impressive. The relatively unresponsive resistive touchscreen and the scarcity of apps available in Archos' store are disappointing, though

Video looks great on the bright screen ; Good range of features ; Easier to use than previous Archos devices

Touchscreen isn't as responsive as it could be ; Doesn't support the Android Market ; Navigation software costs extra ; You'll have to pay more to be able to play some file formats

Conclusion We love the Archos 5 Internet Tablet's huge screen and user-friendly Android OS. Its video and audio performance is highly impressive too, especially its silky smooth high-definition video playback. But the touchscreen isn't as responsive as...

The lack of multi-touch support and the scarcity of apps in AppsLib also mean it's not as easy to use or as flexible as the iPod touch

Archos 5 Internet Tablet review

By Ginny Mies (pcadvisor.co.uk)

Archos has added a Google Android flavour to its Archos 5 range of portable media players/internet tablets: the Archos 5 Internet Tablet.

Archos devices are always desirable - the question is: how much would you use it? But if you have room in your life for a portable video player and web browser, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is a slick product to which Google Android has added extra...

Archos 5 60GB review

By (expertreviews.co.uk)

The 60GB Archos 5 is designed specifically for playing video. This is obvious from its 4.8in 800x480-pixel touch screen - the largest of any player here. It looks great, with wide viewing angles, good contrasts and bright, accurate-looking colours.

Review: Archos 5 portable media player with DVR station

By Paul Lester (computeractive.co.uk)

Has Archos brought anything new to its award winning line of PMPs?

Despite excellent performance and an unparalleled range of features, the Archos5 is quite a bit more expensive than previous models so youíll have to make good use of whatís on offer
