Apple control is what stops me from buying this. If this technology was made without the restrictions that Apple enforces, I would be queuing up at the launch of their products!

Have had my Ipad for several months now, and have finally decided to give it away. The fact that it does not support flash is a massive flaw. It truly limits your internet experience.
Great packaging. Handsome piece of technology
No flash!!!! No USB

There are two ways I could write this Apple iPad review: the pessimistic way or the optimistic way. For a device that has polarised the gadget community as to whether it is the "second coming" or merely "sucks", the thing that both approaches have in...
Watch movies, play games, read books, great screen
Will cost you to fill it with useful stuff, can't multitask yet, limited to what Apple offers you
A fantastic device that is an emotional luxury. But be warned it will need feeding with content to keep you entertained and justify its existence

Award: Best Buy!
Apple all but created the tablet market with the original iPad and, two years and 55 million sales later, other manufacturers are still struggling to compete. The latest iPad raises the stakes still higher, thanks to a huge 1,536 x 2,048 screen...
LTE is unlikely to take off soon, but the retina display alone makes this new model worth having and the fact that neither battery life or price has changed makes it all the more impressive

Apple's third iPad brings a higher resolution display, as well as a souped-up processor and 5-megapixel camera. It's looking very promising, though it's slightly thicker, and feels noticeably heavier to hold.
Retina display ; Improved 5-megapixel camera ; A5X processor ; Voice dictation
Slightly thicker and heavier than the iPad 2 ; 4G tech won't work in the UK

The iPad is probably the most overhyped portable computing device since the iPhone. Although it's tempting to dismiss Apple's 9.7in touchscreen tablet computer as nothing more than a large iPod Touch, it's much more than that thanks to its larger,...
The iPad can be both delightful and frustrating to use at the same time. Think carefully before buying, especially if you already own other portable computing devices.

Apple reinvents the touch-screen computer
Excellent screen; really easy to use; fantastic battery life; very fast
No physical keyboard; can start to feel heavy after a while
The iPad is an excellent computer but it's not for everyone

Bigger than Jesus, or just a big iPod touch? We find out.
There are two conclusions to be made about the Apple iPad. As a product you could buy, it's a tempting but ultimately unconvincing device. Anyone with a particular penchant for Apple, or enough money to burn and a love of shiny tech, are likely to buy...
Unlike the iPhone, however, it doesn't traverse the boundary between early adopters and the mass market. Most people probably wouldn't know what to do with it.

Apple's iPad, now available for preorder in the UK, is the first tablet computer worth owning, but it won't (yet) replace your notebook.
A netbook, e-book reader, gaming device, photo frame and iPod rolled into an elegant supergadget ; Bluetooth, 802.11n Wi-Fi, movie rentals, 10 hours of battery life, optional mobile broadband and the most celebrated App Store on the planet
The iPad's large size is as much a hindrance as it is an advantage ; Cannot entirely mimic many of the specialised products it seeks to replace ; Limited multitasking capabilities, no integrated video camera, Flash support or HD video output
We believe a protective case of some kind is a good investment. Also, given the alternative of charging the iPad using a standard AC adapter, £25 seems reasonable for a charging dock that transforms an otherwise techie device into an attractive digital...

Since its release in 2010, the iPad has been nothing short of a sensation. As many experts predicted, it has revolutionised the way many of us communicate, work and play. In the home and on the move, it has quickly become a must-have accessory for the 21st century. If you’re debating whether to join the throng of happy owners, take a look at some of our iPad reviews first.
Having access to our online source of helpful customer comments is a little like having inside information. You can simply log on and read about the positive aspects, and the negative ones as well, of owning and using an iPad. While the vast majority of buyers have been delighted with their purchase, there are some for whom ownership hasn’t proved worthwhile.
In recent years, a growing number of consumers have discovered the many benefits of reading up on reviews of products before buying. For the more expensive items such as camcorders, televisions and digital cameras, making the wrong choice can prove to be a costly mistake. If you buy a TV that doesn’t have the features you need, for example, you may end up having to buy another one soon after.
Independent advice from previous purchasers is available from alaTest at the click of a mouse, and can make the difference between finding a perfect tablet computer and one that doesn’t match your needs. With the convenience and portability of the incredible iPad, it pays to do a little research into its many applications.
