Acer Iconia Tab A100 review

Acer has done the decent thing and dropped the price on its budget and compact tablet but is it enough to it stand out from the crowd?

Compact build ; Affordable price ; Dual-core CPU

Battery life ; Storage ; Finger prints

If you need something tiny and light to carry around, and don’t mind the short battery life, the Iconia Tab is a worthy entertainment device.

Steve Jobs doesn't like 7-inch tablets. Hardly surprising, given that Apple only has one tablet, and it's not 7-inches. But Pocket-lint likes all tablets, especially ones that give the people what they want: choice.

Sturdy, runs Honeycomb

Not all that cheap, odd screen, DLNA not good at all

A reasonable effort, but it faces growing opposition. The screen isn't the best we've seen and the same is true of the design. If you can get it for a good price then it's worth a look, but be sure to check out what Acer's rivals are doing too

Acer Iconia Tab A100

Life is all about choices and trade-offs. With the Acer Iconia Tab A100, the main compromise is in size. This 417g tablet, the first to run the Android 3.2 operating system, is too big to be a smartphone and too small – at a 7-inch screen size – to...

Small and compact ; Good e-reader ; Latest Android OS ; Re-sizes smartphone apps

Average screen ; Poor battery ; Boring design

The Iconia Tab A100 makes a very good case for Android Honeycomb on a 7in screen tablet.

The Iconia Tab A100 makes a very good case for Android Honeycomb on a 7in screen tablet. Performance and responsiveness are impressive, and we had no issues with accurate input despite the smaller screen and icons. We expected smaller also to equal...

Acer Iconia A100 Android tablet review

Aside from its size the Acer Iconia A100 offers little difference to most other Android tablets under the hood. It's powered by the popular dual-core, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor that's found on many of its competitors and comes with the almost...

The Acer Iconia A100 aims to provide all the features and benefits of an Android tablet in a compact design focussing on portability. However, despite the Iconia A100's decent performance, it's ultimately crippled by a poor quality display, mediocre...

Acer Iconia Tab A100 review

Acer's new Iconia Tab A100 is the first 7in tablet we've seen that uses the latest version of Android's tablet OS - we were expecting more by now, but there's been some speculation that Google was having trouble getting Android version 3 and above to...

A fine 7in Android tablet, but you may want to see what Acer's rivals have in store before you buy

Acer Iconia Tab A100 review

The 7-inch Acer Iconia A100 will suit those seeking a fully featured tablet running Android Honeycomb. It doesn't have the premium feel of some other tablets, but it comes with a more wallet-friendly price tag.

Runs Android Honeycomb ; Portable size ; Decent specs ; Responsive touchscreen

Unimpressive screen resolution ; Android software may be confusing to new users ; 7-inch screen won't appeal to all

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 offers some worthwhile treats for those looking to take their first tentative steps into the world of tablets. It's portable and powerful, both in terms of its hardware and software. Just bear in mind that you'll have to spend...

Acer Iconia Tab A100 7in Honeycomb tablet computer

It runs Android 3, it's small and handy, but it's flawed

Fast and responds well; good for watching video; decent camera

Relatively heavy and too thick; 7in screen doesn't work well for browsing and some apps

It performs well and isn't expensive, but the A100 is a little too bulky to make it good value

A 7in Android Honeycomb 3.2 tablet for under £300. Should the HTC Flyer fly away home?

Expandable memory ; Handy form factor ; Plenty of power

Poor display ; Mediocre battery life

On paper the Acer Iconia A100 sounds great. It's a sub-£300 Android Honeycomb tablet using the still fairly rare 7in form factor that has all the power of the top tabs in town. But a few serious problems blow its chances. The display quality is poor,...

A quality 7-incher with plenty of power – just don't look at the screen from the wrong angle

When you can spend as little as £100 or over £600 on a tablet, deciding how much cash to splash isn't easy. Do you go for a bargain browser or superior slate? Maybe neither, as the Acer Iconia A100 ha
