Amazon Echo review: It's all about Alexa

Amazon launched the Echo - its cylindrical, internet-connected Bluetooth-capable speaker - in the US back in 2015. Just over a year later and the Echo has finally made its way to the UK. Hurrah. We think hands-free voice control is a godsend and that...

Alexa is a very useful personal assistant, quality mic technology for conversing and getting clear answers, sleek looking speaker design, easy setup, lots of compatible services - and more to come

App isn't that well designed, no battery for portability, not class-leading speaker quality, Echo Dot makes more sense, you'll want Prime to make the most of it

We think hands-free voice control is a godsend and that Alexa, Amazon Echo's personal assistant, truly distinguishes this Bluetooth speaker from the competition. It's blown our minds - whether for listening to music, adding to our shopping list,...

Amazon Echo review

Is there an Echo in here? You will hope so

Intuitive voice technology ; the more you use the Echo, the better it becomes ; works great with other smart home technology ; decent price

Loads of Skills you will never use ; UK apps are there but hard to find ; the Alexa app is basi

It's been a long wait for the Amazon Echo to come to the UK but it's worth it. It's a device that will turn any home smart and uses voice technology in an intuitive and fun way. The more you try with the Amazon Echo, the better it is. It may have taken...

Amazon Echo review: Echo 2 is official, but what's new?

The Alexa-enabled speaker connects your living room space to Amazon's services, but what about the Echo 2?

Great design and clever voice-recognition software ; Great sound quality ; Compatible with smart home kit

Works best with an Amazon Prime membership ; Occasionally mixes up words

Amazon's Echo certainly does plenty right. You'll get more out of it as a Prime customer – and a Spotify Premium account holder, for that matter – but if you like the idea of having a virtual butler at your beck and call to manage your shopping list,...

Amazon Echo review

Since introducing the original Amazon Echo smart speaker in November 2014, Amazon has continued to refresh and expand its lineup of hands-free, voice-enabled Alexa devices. In 2016 the company introduced the smaller-sized Echo Dot, eventually replaced...

Amazon's voice-activated smart home speaker is undeniably futuristic, but it's also practical and accessible. With a rapidly growing slate of features, integrations and use cases, it's easy to get excited about the Echo's potential.

The Echo's sound quality is slightly uneven at times, with weak bass at high volumes. It also can't distinguish between different voices like the Google Home smart speaker can.

More than two years after its debut, the smarter-than-ever Amazon Echo remains one of the best connected home products money can currently buy.

Amazon Echo review

A review of the Amazon Echo which is powered by Alexa, a voice-activated assistant which answers questions, plays music and controls smart home gadgets such as your thermostat, lights and more.

The Echo is one of the most exciting gadgets in years and has huge potential. There’s a decent range of skills available in the UK, but check if your smart home kit is supported before you buy an Echo as it’s only half as useful otherwise. Sound...

Amazon Echo review: Amazon's smart speaker now has a smaller, fatter sibling

The Amazon Echo (1st generation) now has a smaller, fatter sibling

Amazon has got many of things right with the Echo. Personally, I find it far more convenient and useful than other digital voice assistants. With the Echo in my bedroom, I can wake up and check the weather, enquire about train delays, and start music...

Amazon Echo: This is what a smart home should feel like [REVIEW]

Amazon's Echo Bluetooth speaker is a step in the right direction toward a voice-controlled home.

Voice recognition is fast and responsive ; Volume can get very loud

Must be tethered to an outlet ; Invite-only to buy ; Isn't context aware ; Only comes in black

The Echo's an impressive voice assistant and voice-controlled DJ, but Amazon's only scratching the surface of what it can do.
