8 gb SSD

over all i think the drive was worth the money

highly resistant to fisical shock, runs cooler and quieter than standered disk & the machine boots quicher than a standard disk seems to speed machine up when the compurer uses the dirve for its vertual memory

a little slower on the install than a standard disk but not unreasonable

You do know...

Guys.. you do know that for laptop applications they have a 2.5" ATA-Serial and ATA-6 adapters that interface into a Compact Flash Card right? Same exact things for Serial and IDE. I mean there's you solid state right there... But make sure you are...

not too bad

in regard to the vfat file system, the drive comes with a dos partition table and vfat file system. i have no idea why, i dont think anyone uses that anymore. (ntfs, hfs+, ext3, reiser ?) i installed this on my ibook g4. put a mac partition table on it...

less heat and quiet, havent tested the power consumption yet

not that fast, but this isnt top of the line SSD either, so i didnt expect it to be fast. (i got it for less power consumption, heat and noise)

A Cooler & Quiet Laptop

It needs a built in cache in future editions to enhance performance. The cost does not justify the performance gain (if there was any). However, the cost does justify the elimination of any hard drive noise (which is, in most cases, 99% of the noise...

The nature of solid state drives means there is no noticable heat coming from the drive. Since this is enclosed in my laptop, I practically feel no heat other than the heat from my laptop's CPU. In addition, there is literally no operating noise. So...

There is no real performance gain other than random read performance. Windows menus pop out faster, programs are a little more snappy. No noticable disk write enhancements. It's about the same speed or slower write speed for program installs. I have...

Good for some things

I bought this device to run my Linux firewall system. I expect it to excel in that task since my primary criteria there is reliability. However, being the curious technical sort I decided to experiment a little first. I installed it in my test mule...

Low power ; No noise ; High reliability ; Shock resistant ; Quick access time

Low throughput ; Small capacity ; Expensive

I question the previous review

VFAT is a filesystem. A computer's BIOS doesn't know what filesystem is on a drive. It only knows it's an IDE drive of a certain raw size. If you want a different filesystem, repartition the drive if necessary, then reformat it to whatever filesystem...

Good product

Easy installation on my IBM laptop. No noise and no heat.

It is seen by the BIOS as a VFAT drive, meaning you can install Windows XP on it, but you can NOT install LINUX on that drive.
