Kingston SSDNow M-Series

A Solid State Drive for those with a speed addiction.

Solid State Drives are here to stay for the foreseeable future, and though they offer many advantages over mechanical hard drives, they do also still have a few drawbacks---primarily, the price tag being the most obvious. For large storage...

This drive is 100% Intel X25m-G2

No adaptor with this drive, so plan accordingly if it's going into a desktop setup.

It's an Intel drive; the motherboard bios even recognizes the drive as an Intel X25M. This is also the "G2" (2nd Revision), so it supports TRIM and Intel SSD toolbox. This drive CAN be flashed with Intel firmware. And finally, it's about $50 cheaper...

This drive does arrive with 02HA firmware, which is the 'bad' Intel firmware that supported TRIM, but was pulled soon after. No problem though as I flashed the firmware to 02HD. This is a very minor con, and since Kingston doesn't write the firmware,...

Kingston SSDNow M Series SNM225-S2/160GB 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

This is basically a rebranded Intel G2 SSD for far less money. Even the intel SSD toolbox will work with it (when they put out the updated version anyway). You can't go wrong!

High speed, high capacity

Product Specifications

SSDNow M series drives increase performance with the impressive input and output operations per second (IOPS), a result of the drive's NAND flash components and the powerful native command queuing. With higher IOPS than a standard mechanical hard disk drive (HDD), SSDNow M series allows for faster boot times and faster application loads than HDDs, ultimately making a power user more productive. SSD uses a standard hard disk drive interface but unlike an HDD, SSD is very rugged and can handle more shock because it's built with no moving parts. Kingston's SSDNow M series can withstand greater shock than an HDD, making it an ideal solution for executives and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Kingston's SSDNow M series drives are equipped with S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) to tell the user when a drive is about to fail.
