Intel X18-M and Intel X25-M review

The Intel X18-M and X25-M are solid-state drives that can capitalise on the theoretical advantages solid-state memory offers over hard disk drives. Intel isn't new to SSD, but it is looking to reinvent the rule book with its latest - and most...

With its latest SSD drives, the Intel X18-M and Intel X25-M, Intel has realised the promise of solid-state technology.

Meh

A couple of these were purchased on accident several months ago. After finding a 1.8" to 2.5" cradle/adapter, I have put these to use. It works, but I wouldn't buy these again. The shorter warranty tells me that Intel thinks it's too much of a risk to...

It's an SSD drive that stores my stuff and it hasn't caused any problems with Ubuntu ; Faster than the 5400RPM drive it's replacing

1 yr warranty because it's labeled OEM (instead of the standard 5yr). I guess the rumors are true: Intel doesn't support OEM's ; A little on the slow side for an SSD ; This tiny little thing consumes more power than the 5400 RPM drive it's replacing

Works Great!

Greatly improved speed over the old spinning hard drive

Price. It's a little pricier than other SSDs but I have read quite a few reviews that tout the benefits of Intel so I went with this one anyway. No complaints

Well worth the price!

i want moar.

Extremely fast ; 7.8 on windows index with ACHI mode (depends on motherboard the WI may +/- 1) ; Go big or go home. The SSD makes no noise, very low temperature, no rattling! What more can you ask? everything loads instantaneously! First person to load...

it makes me wait for other people to load games ; people need to go SSD or GO HOME

Best solution when a 1.8" uSata drive is required

I purchased the StarTech MCSATAADAP Micro SATA adapter (not stocked my newegg as of now) in order to access the Toshiba 250GB drive while outside of the laptop. This adapter may be able to be used with the SSD to install it in a desktop, but it...

Perfectly replaced the stock [Toshiba 250GB 5400rpm 1.8"] drive in a Lenovo T410s for improved performance and less risk of drive failure due to shaking the laptop. Excellent performance as expected with all Intel G2 SSD's -- read the reviews on the...

Plug It In OOPS/CAN'T!

I heard this should be a pretty good boot drive if you're trying keep your system fast. This may be true but it's also a darn good looking paper weight

You need special connectors for this 1.8 ssd and THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED or even linked. At this price, THEY SHOULD AT LEAST TELL YOU THIS MUCH/LINK THE APPROPRIATE CONNECTORS, especially since this is pretty recent advance in HD technology so it's not...

Best upgrade you can get

Love the Intel SSD. Own almost every flavor of those, from the V series to the X18-M and X25-M firt Generation. Those SSD are incredibly fast. They might not match some other SSD in pure continous speed, but who writes a 2 GB file everyday? what maters...

Fast, fast and fast ; TRIM support ; Intel reliability

Expensive (Just went up right after I bought it...)

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Great drive for people who need it.

I repeat: this drive is just for thin laptops and tablets that can only use 1.8" HDs or SSDs (SATA.) Don't buy it for any other application. Don't write bad reviews of this great product if you don't know what you are doing! And if you don't know what...

This drive is a fantastic bargain for users of ultra-thin laptops like my Thinkpad X300. The X300 can only use 1.8" drives, so there is not much choice. The 1.8" drives usually cost more than the 2.5" equivalents, but the X18-M costs the about same as...

No disadvantage at all, unless you buy it for the wrong application
