Samsung Gear S2 3G review

One of the biggest complaints of smartwatches is that they're really just dependent accessories to your phone. They need a phone to work.

The 3G version of the Gear S2 has all the features and design of Samsung's Wi-Fi-only S2 smartwatch, but adds a speakerphone and built-in GPS along with full standalone phone and data service.

It's more expensive, requires a connected data plan to pair with, and runs out of battery life quickly on cellular. It's bulkier, too. Also, the Gear S2 3G doesn't have that many great apps, and it doesn't yet work with iPhones.

Samsung's cellular-enabled smartwatch adds some interesting features to the Gear S2, but it's just not easy or useful enough to justify the extra expense.

Samsung Gear S2 3G ( T-Mobile, Silver)

Not all of them, though. The Samsung Gear S2 3G is a smartwatch that has its own cell service. It can work without any phone at all. I wore the Gear S2 3G for a few weeks. And, now I've taken it off. It's an amazing little demonstration that a watch...

Gear S2 3G review: Samsung's best smartwatch offers more than the Apple Watch

You have to give Samsung credit for not giving up on smartwatches and I'm pleased to see its latest model rises to the top of the smartwatch offerings.

Gear S2 follow up review

Samsung's round smartwatch aims to make a splash with an unique bezel and after a month with it, we're asking - is the Gear S2 the best smartwatch ever?

Durable and sleek design ; Multiple options to meet different needs ; A size that's suitable for most users ; Market-leading battery life is impressive ; Unique rotating bezel stands out from the crowd ; Good display with clever brightness management ;...

Limited application support for the foreseeable future ; No auto-brightness ; No GPS or speaker on the Wi-Fi only variant

Samsung's first round face smartwatch ticks a lot of boxes and despite a lack of third-party apps, the Korean OEM has delivered what I believe to be one of the best smartwatches ever.

"Ticks all the boxes"

I had to create an account just to counter this reviewers somewhat skewed opinion. Just to be clear I haven't used the cellular features with this device so I can't comment on that. Rather, I'll be reviewing the smartwatch and fitness uses of this...

The watch is perfect for those situations when you need to stay connected and don't want to bring your phone.

The watch is good for situations when you want to be connected without carrying a phone. Situations such as out walking/running or to be subtle in meetings. The watch has just the right features for a smart watch/fitness tracker and if you're looking...

Excellent

Don't know why CNET reviewer downgraded the watch, but myself being an apple person since the 3G and looking for a 6S got talked into a Samsung 6+ Edge, once home, with my wife and I being IT people, Apple was toast, the watch runs circles around...

Intergration, ease of use.

Can't change the watch bands to something more stylish.

The Gear S2 3G is outstanding

I was a fan of the Gear 2, my first venture into wearable tech. I like the Apple Watch, since I also have an iPhone as well, but I still have some reservations with it's first rendition. I won't go into it on this review, but will just say two main...

Bright display, Built-in speakers, Lightweight, 3g offers speaker phone, watch faces galore, customization to an extent

Wish there was a way to control screen timeout, wished they offered a simple browser app, still waiting on samsung pay
