Sony SmartWatch 3

Updated: Now with video of Sony's first Android Wear watch

Built-in GPS ; Runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop ; Supports Micro USB charging

Limited GPS-enabled app support ; GPS has big impact on battery life ; Dull, ordinary design

There’s no real complaints to have with screen responsiveness, while the square watch face means there are no optimisation issues displaying Android Wear apps as the developers intended them to look. Sony includes some basic display accessibility...

Sony Smartwatch 3 review: gently ageing Android Wear watch still holds its own

No looker, this, but a solid performer at a bargain price

Packed with features ; It's a steal at the price ; Slick performance

Washed out screen ; Pretty awful looks ; Short-ish battery life

Sony SmartWatch 3 review: Brains over beauty

The latest Android Wear watch to enter the race for your wrist is the Sony SmartWatch 3. As a company in the wearables game since the outset, experience shows in this third generation device. But after previous so-so attempts is it finally a case of...

GPS built-in, good battery life for standard use, microUSB charging, slim design

Design lacks premium quality, display not the brightest, Android Wear still has limitations

The Sony SmartWatch 3 manages to improve the feature set compared to its predecessor thanks to built-in GPS. But it still falls short in a some areas, making that smartwatch purchase decision less clear cut than the high-flying Sony specification may...

Sony SmartWatch 3 review

Our wrists get acquainted with Sony's latest Google-powered timepiece

Built-in GPS for phone-free running ; Android Wear runs slick and smooth ; Waterproof build, comfortable strap ; Decent battery life

Washed-out colours and yellow whites ; No heart-rate monitor ; Proprietary watch strap

A waterproof build and GPS powers make this the best fitness smartwatch around. Shame about the washed-out display though

Sony SmartWatch 3 review: Still worth your time in 2017?

We strap on Sony's third generation smartwatch again, but is it still as impressive as we remember?

Cheap ; Screen you can read in sunlight

Out of date ; Better, newer alternatives

It’s far more sensibly priced these days, though. For around £90 it’s still a decent enough smartwatch, and should serve you well so long as you don’t mind its vast outdated-ness. Get a SmartWatch 3 if you have your heart set on it, but perhaps pick up...

Sony SmartWatch 3 review

Sony has launched an Android Wear smartwatch so here's our hands-on with the SmartWatch 3 from IFA 2014.

The SmartWatch 3's biggest strength is its built-in GPS, but you'll still need a smartphone for driving directions. It's also great to see a standard USB charging port. The transflective screen is a good idea, but in practice battery life is no better...

Sony SmartWatch 3 review

Sony's previous efforts at making a smartwatch haven't exactly been successes. In fact, the SmartWatch 2 was pretty awful. Seemingly keen to learn from its mistakes, however, Sony is back with a third generation of its computerised wristwear,...

The Sony SmartWatch 3 has built-in GPS to track your workout without needing your phone. It's waterproof, has a built-in USB port for charging without a dock and runs Android Wear smoothly.

Its screen is pretty awful, with poor colours and viewing angles. Its plain, square design makes it much less stylish than the LG G Watch R and it doesn't have a heart-rate monitor built in.

Although its ability to use GPS to track your run is handy, its poor screen, uninspiring design and lack of a heart-rate monitor means the SmartWatch 3 doesn't impress over its more luxurious Android Wear competitors.

Sony SmartWatch 3 Review: An Android Wrist Rocket?

We review Sony's SmartWatch 3 (SWR50), an Android Wear wrist rocket that can play music independently of your phone.

Slender design ; Decent battery life ; No stupid dock ; Offline music

Washed-out screen ; Lacks premium finish

Sony's SmartWatch 3 isn't cheap at £180, which makes it a real shame that the finish isn't a bit more premium and the screen isn't more joyously vibrant. That said, I like the slender design and solid catch, and Sony's wearable also entices with...
