Hive Active Heating 2.0 review: Style meets connected practicality

Of all the services offering to take control of your heating, Hive is probably the system that has the highest profile. That's in no small part due to plenty of marketing and a brand name that's instantly recognisable: British Gas.

Quick installation, easy to use apps, attractive price

Potential for connection problems, no Windows Phone app

Hive Active Heating remains one of the more accessible smart heating systems. There are a growing number of rivals, but with British Gas pushing Hive, it's an easy option to select. The Hive universe is also set to expand, with support for zoned...

Hive Active Heating 2 review

This smart thermostat is hot, hot, hot

Very easy to use ; Thermostat looks suitably stylish ; Geolocation now available

Not as smart as some rivals ; A little pricey

Simple enough for anyone to use and powerful enough to be useful

Hive Active Heating 2

Hive Active Heating from British Gas was a good first stab at a smart thermostat, but the likes of the Nest, Tado, Honeywell Evohome and Heat Genius all offered superior features, easier-to-use software or a combination of both. Hive Active Heating 2,...

Easy Life

Excellent unit. Works as stated, fitted easily although a bit of a delay and enables the heating of your home from distance. Ideal if you come home at different times and a timer is inadequate.

Excellent product-Great installation

We bought this from John Lewis on Christmas Eve. A phone call was made at 6.00pm, and the Hive was installed by British Gas on 30th December. It has already transformed the way we use our heating, and is really attractive design. I should add that our...

I bought this product instead of the Nest or Scottish power equivalent as I believed it was HomeKit enabled due to the apple website having it in their HomeKit section This product doesn't have the functionality at present to do this so don't buy it...
