Emerson Sensi review

Emerson's Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat doesn't rely on algorithms, remote sensors, geofencing or any other high-end smarts a la Nest's Learning Thermostat , Honeywell's Lyric or the Ecobee3 . In fact, it's really just a basic-looking...

Emerson's $130 Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat costs less than many other smart-home models, its button interface and app are thoughtfully arranged and it works with Amazon's Alexa.

The Sensi doesn't come with algorithmic learning, remote sensors or geofencing capabilities; the thermostat hardware is on the plain side of the spectrum.

The Sensi is a solid option if you're looking for a smart thermostat upgrade that still manages to keep things simple.

Emerson Sensi thermostat review: A traditional thermostat with some smart features

The Sensi is like your old thermostat with the addition of some excellent Wi-Fi features.

Excellent and exacting temperature controls ; Battery back up ; Highly customizable temperature scheduling

Entirely reliant on user scheduling ; Boring industrial design ; No motion sensor

From the perspective of upgrading an old thermostat to something new but not overly expensive, the Sensi is a solid choice. For a around the same price, you can admittedly get the more high-tech LUX/GEO, but the Sensi offers much finer temperature...

Emerson Sensi 1F86U-42WF Review

The Emerson Sensi is an affordable thermostat with nice temperature-control features, and it is easy to program temperature settings that align with your lifestyle. The unit is missing some of the advanced tools other programmable thermostats have such...

The Emerson Sensi supports four-stage heating systems.

It doesn’t have energy-management features like geofencing and motion sensor technology.

With a three-year warranty and impressive temperature-control features, the Emerson Sensi is a great option for people looking for an affordable programmable thermostat.

Emerson Sensi 1F86U-42WF Review

The Emerson Sensi is the best-value option of the programmable thermostats we tested. This is partly because it's compatible with Apple HomeKit and Amazon Echo, but it also has a simple design that creates an excellent user experience. This is a great...

The Emerson Sensi has an excellent mobile app and Amazon Echo support.

It doesn’t have an automatic scheduling feature.

The Emerson Sensi's three-year warranty and impressive mobile app help make it the best value for your money.

Does not work as advertised on the box

Says it works without a "C" wire - NOT TRUE. Tech support made me send them a pic of the box because they actually did not believe the company had made that claim. 2 agents I spoke with said they were "puzzled" that the box would say something that was...

Consumer review by: jaybeene (cnet.com)

I bought 2 of these thermostats to control 2 floors of our ministry and they're definitely going to pay for themselves!

I am SUPER HAPPY I stopped at Home Depot and found the SENSI. Shopping online was tedious and I couldn't seem to compare as well as I could from the shelf. I needed to read the product boxes because similar thermostats require an extra C wire we don't...

I can control both of them with the phone app from ANYWHERE through WIFI / the internet.

Was easy to wire, however I didn't understand which abbreviation to select for heat options and had to reach out for help.
