ScanSnap S510M Review

If you need to keep track of your documents, the ScanSnap S510M is a price-effective means to do so.

Compact, efficient, capable, excellent quality scans, fast

Too expensive for casual users, no film scanner, no support for TWAIN

There's much that's good here, although the ScanSnap is not really appropriate for creative studios and too expensive for casual users. The target market of SoHo and business users must really want Acrobat 8 Professional, and for them it's an excellent...

Updated software makes it even easier to go paperless

If you want to turn your paper archives into searchable PDFs, it doesn't get any easier than the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M. At $495 it's not cheap-but its bundled software alone is worth far more than the scanner itself.

Automatic two-sided scanning ; fast ; automatic OCR ; handles small and oversize pages

Quick Menu feature doesn't work with Entourage ; OCR software can't keep up with scanner ; fairly expensive

Unlike flatbed scanners made primarily for scanning images, the ScanSnap has a compact, upright design more appropriate for scanning documents. It can churn through stacks of up to 50 sheets of paper at a time, scanning both sides of the page at once...

This is a great little scanner. I was somewhat concerned about paying close to $500 for this, but it is definitely worth it. I scanned 74 pages of notes from a college course directly to PDF in about 5 minutes! It would have taken me close to an hour...

Fast, high quality scans, Mac compatible, Software works very well, scans directly to PDF, includes software to index and do OCR on the PDFs so that they are searchable, includes business card scanning software (haven't used this yet, though), includes...

Somewhat expensive, but it does include a full version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 8

Has a very small footprint! - Scans are super quick! (either one pdf with multiple pages or one pdf for each page.) - The software it comes with is very easy to use and I have it setup with mail in osx, so it immediately attaches the pdf's to an email

Is there a way to keep the scan snap icon from staying in the dock with every restart?

This thing small. This thing is fast. This thing works. It comes with an excellent software package. It''s shipped free. The price is more than just right. The praise it gets is well deserved for sure. I hope I never have to find out about customer...

I wish I knew how to use adobe and the other software better. Guess I''ll have to learn
