Canon - CanoScan 4200F

Buying an efficient and good quality scanner when you're on a tight budget is always a bit of a juggling act, depending upon whether your priority is speed or detail of reproduction. The CanoScan 4200F was ...

If you want a reasonably-priced scanner that scans your photos and documents quickly and to a high standard then this is a good buy, but you'll have to be patient with your 35mm film as this is a much more lengthy process.

Canon CanoScan 4200F

Looking for a bargain? This A4 flatbed scanner has lots of great features at a cracking price.

If price is an issue, but you want great-quality scans with superb colour and don't mind a bit of a learning curve before getting the most out of your scanner, this is a good option.

Canon CanoScan 4200F

The Canon CanoScan 4200F ($99.99 direct) is the sort of scanner that doesn't distinguish itself from the crowd. If all you want is an inexpensive device that gets photos into a PC, it's fine. But if you're archiving prints and slides for posterity,...

Color-restore feature revives old photos. Surprisingly good OCR accuracy. Scans directly to PDF format

No ADF. Dust and scratch removal feature doesn't do much. Slide scanning produces minimally usable scan quality

The Canon CanoScan 4200F works well enough to let you scan snapshots and slides to print for friends and family, although quality is less than ideal. OCR accuracy is surprisingly good, and the ability to scan directly to a PDF file is a welcome...

Hideous and Cheap

After receiving this as a gift, I immediately experienced problems with it and had to disassemble it and refasten the bed glass, which kept coming undone and trapping the scanner's bulb, resulting in huge noise and improper scans. It takes far too...

Compact size and streamlined design, Good scans when it deigns to work

Hideously cheap design and manufacturing, Poor adhesive used to secure bed glass, Cheap and frail materials used all around

excellent, low-cost scanner

The scan quality far outweighs the speed or noise of this little gem. I gotta thanK Newegg. I ordered the scanner on a Sunday, had the scanned on Tuesday and got the best price. And they take Paypal!

I easily got high-quality scans on the first try with prints, slides and negatives. Installation was easy and quick. No problem on my relic PC with a cheapie USB hub

Kinda slow with USB1.0. Kinda noisy too

not bad!

actually scan part of cycle is quiet... Newegg is incredible, I'n a new convert. Love the selection, prices, and reviews. Can't beat the shipping if you live in So. Cal. I've never had trouble with UPS shipping, so have no complaints there.

good value, did a good job scanning in some 40+ yr old slides. Easy to set up and use

Is noisy as lamps returns to rest position - startled me the first time I heard it

Nice Scanner

Not sure why people are saying this thing is slow, it was quite fast for me. I needed to upgrade from my canon canoscan n67ou and this was inexpensive and 6 years newwer.

Fast, high quality output, price

Big footprint, buttons on front annoy me i accidently hit them a few times and it spawned applications, its black which shows finger prints. The #1 thing that annoys me is that it has a poser supply, my old canon scanner did not need one it used the...

Install and Incompatibility problems

Be careful on ordering this if you have a add-in USB 2.0 card. The documentation only states that Adaptec cards/hubs have been tested.

I like the direct import to PDF. In general, scan quality is good

After the initial software install, the scanner came up as an unknown device. It took a couple more software install attempts before it would recognize it. This is actually documented in the manual. Then it just didn't work. It turns out it was not...
