First I'll explain my setup. I'm feeding the 1065 two HDMI inputs(Apple TV and DVD player). The HDMI output goes to my TV. Downstairs is a 4:1 speaker setup and then I have speakers wired throughout the house driven by "Zone 2" of this unit. With that...
Great sound. Plenty of power. Got if for a great price ($380). The picture still looks perfect after going through the receiver. No degradation of quality
If you don't have it hooked to a TV, setup would really suck ; Configuring Zone 2 was frustrating, but that may be my own doing. I guess it's best summed up as not entirely intuitive to use, otherwise I'd have given it 5 stars

The most competitive Yamaha amplifier we've tried in several years, and a genuine competitor for class-best honours
Quality sound with both movies and music ; complete specification
Two HDMI inputs seems a little mean for the price ; that's it
By (whathifi.com)
A very talented amp that's just lacks some sonic polish
Surround processing ; immersive sound ; even tonal balance
Input assignment issues ; lacks the dynamic brilliance of the best at the price
By (whathifi.com)
Perfectly decent, just not the daddy at this price point
Solid build ; accurate auto set-up ; detailed, rich sound ; good bass weight
Input assignment issues ; not as dynamic or exciting to listen to as the class-leaders

This relatively inexpensive A/V receiver may sport the latest high-resolution surround sound decoding, but it is a tad lacking in the video-processing department.
Four HDMI inputs; onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding; upconverts analog video signals to 1080p; automatic speaker calibration system; relatively inexpensive
Competitors offer more features for the same price; cannot assign audio inputs; poor image quality on upconverted analog video signals; lacks a multichannel analog input; no multiroom functionality; onscreen display looks outdated; cluttered remote
The Yamaha RX-V565 offers the latest HD audio-visual bells and whistles, but it doesn't fare as well when compared to other standalone A/V receivers.

Four HDMI inputs; onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding; upconverts analog video signals to 1080p; automatic speaker calibration system; relatively inexpensive 7.1 AV receiver

The Yamaha RX-V565BL works well as part of the Yamaha YHT-791BL home theater system, but it doesn't fare as well when compared to other standalone AV receivers.

While you can get into an entry level receiver these days for under $300, there are some serious advantages to stepping it up a notch. If you want advanced functionality like video upconversion, higher quality amplifiers and advanced connectivity...
The receiver has four HDMI inputs, each of which are capable of reading and decoding the new high resolution audio formats. This provides a great way to feed four components into a newer HDMI-equipped HD television. Because these HDMI inputs decode the...

Yamaha has been on the warpath lately with new releases coming nearly every week. The RX-V1065 is one of the newer receivers out of the AV giant and is retailing for just under a grand. This is the price point that generally attracts people that have...
All you need to do is convince them that the extra expenditure is worth it. How do you do that? Features. The question is, does the RX-V1065 have enough of what you want?

At first glance, the Yamaha RX-V1065 A/V receiver seems to be missing several of the latest and greatest features. By that I mean it doesn't have the licensed goodies and their accompanying logos, the little things that manufacturers use to encourage...
When you fire up the receiver and press the On Screen button, you get the same four options as the Scene buttons, with both graphic and text labels. The look is reminiscent of the recently reviewed Yamaha neoHD YMC-700 Media Controller (HT, November...

While four HDMI inputs are pretty much standard these days, I can't help but think a fifth or even a sixth would be beneficial, given the RX-V765's focus on current HD technologies ; I don't like how Yamaha has packed so many goodies into the RX-V765...
It's amazing to think that, over a year ago, a receiver packing as much performance as the RX-V765 would've cost you near two grand, if not more. Here we are approaching the fall of 2009, and that same receiver is now $650. That, my friends, is...
