Yamaha RX-V661 AV Receiver

Yamaha has produced an incredibly versatile AV receiver in the RX-V661. With tons of connections (including 1080p compatible HDMI (Version 1.2a) switching), this $500 receiver should be on your list.

Yamaha RX-V661B

The Yamaha RX-V661 is a solid, budget AV receiver with HD switching, but it's a tough sell when models with next-generation HDMI 1.3 features are about to hit the market.

HDMI switching for two sources ; Automatic speaker calibration

No analog-to-HDMI video conversion ; No onscreen menus with HDMI ; Only two HDMI inputs

In terms of video performance, the RX-V661 was fine. The RX-V661 doesn't do any upconversion, so we really only looked to make sure it was passing video signals untouched. HDMI signals from our Toshiba HD-XA2 looked just as good as they would directly...

It does what I need. Povide great sound, good price & many feature I can grow into. Yes, the new HDMI 1.3 will be avaialble soon. However, the components must be capable of such output. In addition, with that standard comes more expensive components.

Solid performer. Solid name brand. Solid sound

If you use the standard RCA plugs, be ready for cables everywhere

Yamaha RX-V661B

I blew up a 3year old Sony ($1500) 3 weeks ago and bought this for $850 (from Harvey Norman). Could not be happier.

Spectacular sound, the easy speaker set up, and having a second zone so I can listen to music while the simple can watch Big Brother

Would have liked a more informative remote with a screen

Great unit, Happy with purchase would highly recommend. Better to spend that extra money purchasing a quality product compared to some other av recievers that have fried on me.

everything you want from an av reciever. All features work with ease. Fully compatible with harmony remote 525. Value for money and sounds great. Stays relatively cool in cabinet.

Setup took a while.
