Cambridge Audio DACMagic 200M review: a fantastic DAC and headphone amp

The Cambridge Audio DACMagic 200M brings elite sound to your laptop or your hi-fi system

Detailed, open and considered sound ; Great specification ; Equally at home in a full system or on a desktop

Wireless sound is relatively ordinary ; No remote or control app

If the DACMagic 200M can’t improve your digital audio performance, you must have quite the setup already. It's overflowing with features, and the sound quality is simply wonderful.

Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M review

Cambridge's generously featured DAC keeps the magic alive

Smooth, clean, insightful sound ; Generous connectivity ; Native MQA support

No remote control ; Tough competition

Cambridge’s top-of-the-line DAC is a well-armed, high-performing all-rounder

Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS review

We're used to Cambridge Audio being aggressive when it comes to price, but even by its standards the DacMagic XS represents excellent value

A stable, refined and detailed sound ; Lovely build and finish ; Portability

At this price? Nothing

We’re used to Cambridge Audio being aggressive when it comes to price, but even by its standards the DacMagic XS represents excellent value for money

Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 review

An affordable, very listenable DAC, but lacks dynamic reach and scale

Neat design ; fine connectivity ; inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz ; open, detailed sound

Lacks dynamic reach and scale

Another affordable, fine-looking and very listenable DAC from Cambridge Audio

Cambridge Audio DacMagic review

Cambridge Audio's DacMagic has plenty of inputs, boasts a choice of sound filters and sounds powerful, full-bodied yet subtle too

Sleek, solid design ; Powerful yet subtle sound ; Well made

Not cheap ; Can't handle 192kHz audio

An excellent DAC, but now superceded by newer models

Cambridge Audio DACMagic review

£200 is all it takes to transform your old digital sources into cutting edge wonder machines

User-selectable filters allow a degree of tuning to taste ; Basic sound is excellent ; Clear and highly detailed ; Remarkably neutral ; Energetically rhythmic

No volume control ; Lacks audiophile credibility that comes with acres of 10mm-thick front panel

The performance of the DACMagic is so good it's almost embarrassing. Not only does it sound great, it locks to incoming signals almost instantly and takes up very little space. Balanced output too – what more could one want?
