The Red Star Review

The Red Star is a PSP game originally developed by Acclaim and Archangel Studios for the PS2. Planned for release in 2004, Acclaim's fate saw its eventual release in 2007. The PSP port was released on PSN on March 18, 2010. The Red Star works as a...

Replay value is very good, due to the unlockables and extra characters. Unfortunately, the 2 player option from the original PS2 version was removed. Some speculate that the multi was removed from the PSP version so it could be easily ported to the...

The Red Star

I first fell in love with The Red Star six years ago. At that time this arcade-style shooter/brawler was one of Acclaim's most promising games. Unfortunately, Acclaim filed for bankruptcy mere months after showing the game for the first time at E3. For...

Even if you completely ignore its storied history, The Red Star is still an incredible action game that is a perfect fit on the Sony PSP. Fans of both old school shooters and 2D beat-em-ups will fall in love with the merging of these two genre. It not...

For the most part it is a rather basic top down beat ‘em up game, or that it even does not look that great, it would have been impressive if it was a PS1 game

The Red Star Sony PSP Review

The game is loosely based on the comic book of the same name (as was the PS2 game before it), following three members of the United Republics of the Red Star (U.R.R.S.) as they battle the villainous Troika, who's looking to restore Russia back to its...

Gameplay works well on the PSP, graphics and sound were perfectly carried over from the PS2 version, $15 is cheap compared to other downloadable games

No two-player mode, no new content added to the PSP version, finicky lock-on system

Sometimes the last thing you want to dwell on in a video game is the plot. Instead, it's best to check your brain at the door and let your trigger finger do the talking. It's here that The Red Star makes itself at home, providing lots of insane...

The Red Star- PSP

As a $15 game, The Red Star is a great deal, considering it was at one point set to release as a full-priced game. For old-school action game fans, this one's a must-download.

The Red Star- PSP

The Red Star is going to appeal to some people because of its Streets of Rage/Ikaruga-like moments, but I'm not one of them. I like Streets of Rage and Ikaruga, but The Red Star only offers glimpses of gameplay that feel like those awesome titles.
