Syphon Filter Dark Mirror (PSP) review

Proving that you don't need a mullet to be a hero.

Delivers the benchmark blend of action and stealth, in what is easily one of the best games to be released on the PSP. It looks pretty, controls perfectly, and has something to appeal to everyone, not just genre-fans.

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Review for PSP

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror for PSP Review - Syphon Filter gives its only handheld competition (in the shape of Splinter Cell Essentials) a quick, effective neck snap that I'm sure Mr Fisher would be proud of.

Terrorists beware: Gabe Logan's first handheld adventure is here

So 'look before you leap' is being re-branded 'check you're not actually mailing the person you're slagging off before you hit send'; 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread' becomes 'idiots bid on pirate goods when they don't look at the feedback...

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (2006)

While the Nintendo DS has emerged as the most exciting games machine on the planet – offering a slew of compelling, innovative and unique titles – the PSP has been a cruel disappointment for early adopters, failing to offer a single decent game...

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

The first portable Syphon Filter is one of a rare breed for the PlayStation Portable--a shooter that offers not only intense stealth and action sequences, but also a control scheme that works.

Awesome presentation, with a generous amount of voice acting and cutscenes ; Varied and intense campaign ; Smooth, well-designed control scheme ; Lots of cool gadgets and guns ; Eight-player online multiplayer

Campaign is fairly short ; Guns sound like weak toys

With everything Dark Mirror has to offer, including its great controls, varied campaign, and high-calibre presentation, Syphon Filter is easy to recommend to anyone who likes action games. The stealth in the game isn't as hardcore as something like...

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror - PSP review at Thunderbolt Games

I would like to meet the makers of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. I would like to sit down with them and ask why they are the only people who have managed to cram a decent action game onto the PSP. I would congratulate them on crafting such a brilliant...

Syphon Filter Dark Mirror

After a very successful initial run on the PS2, Syphon Filter and Gabe Logan make their way onto the portable PSP system. I was really wondering how this game would fare after the hits taken on the series in the subsequent sequels on PS2. I am pleased...

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

Gabe Logan is back, and we couldn't be happier.

Great wireless online play, wonderfull offline missions, a decent story, solid presentation and better-than-PSP-ought-to-have graphics and sound make for one of the best experiences on the PSP yet. Buy this game.

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

The Syphon Filter franchise made an acclaimed debut back on the original PlayStation and has since slowly fizzled into obscurity. With its debut on the PSP in Dark Mirror, it has managed to achieve success again through excellent use of the platform...

Great single-player campaign ; Multiplayer has a lot of depth ; Solid controls

The face buttons for aiming could be difficult to grasp

A must own for any PSP owner's library.
