Love all?

Out! (of order),' Namco Bandai doubtless shouts, and the truth is that its game IS significantly different to Sega's recent handheld tennis wonder. But looks-wise you'll certainly have a hard time telling them apart

Smash Court Tennis 3 (PSP) review

Anyone for tennis? Perhaps you should think again.

As a summer filler it will kill some time, and it may even charm you for a short while, but behind the bells and whistles is a poorly created tennis sim that just doesn't hold up to repeated play.

REVIEW: Not exactly smashing.

Umm...uhhhh...we're stumped

Sketchy animations; some visual glitches.; Hypersensitive controls are a pain

With Top Spin and Virtua Tennis ruling the 360 courts, why did anyone think we'd want to play a purely mediocre tennis game?

Smash Court Tennis 3

Virtua Tennis is seven years old now, and as far as tennis games go, it still reigns supreme. Since its release, Virtua Tennis has been my high watermark for games in the genre, and while other titles have come close, none have surpassed Sega's...

Good character animation ; Inventive minigames

Terrible graphics ; Poor use of sound ; Frustrating, slow-paced gameplay ; Completely uninventive Pro Tour mode is just a ripoff of Virtua Tenis's World Tour mode

If you don't have Virtua Tennis, that's the tennis game to get. If you have Virtua Tenis and you absolutely must play Pac-Man Tenis, I guess this is the game for you.

Rent it for the mini-games, skip it for the career mode.

Smash Court Tennis 3 isn't an awful game - there's just not a whole lot here to keep your attention. There is a lot of depth in the game but will you keep coming back to play it? Unless the thought of playing Pac-Man on a tennis court interests you-in...

Loaded with content, the game offers some serious racket action

Nice mini-games ; Decent visuals and animations

Not meant for all tennis fans

Despite the fact that it lacks online MP, Smash Court Tennis 3 is a very solid contender that will give portable lovers more than their fill of some serious racket action.

Smash Court Tennis 3

If you're in the mood for tennis on the go, and you don't want to walk around with that unwieldy racket, then chances are good you're stuck with a handheld version of the sport. But what are your options? With random attempts by smaller companies and...

If you're really dying to play a new tennis game for the PSP then I'd definitely recommend Smash Court Tennis 3. The game modes are fun, the gameplay, though flawed, is solid, and there are many elements in between that separate it from competitors...

Smash Court Tennis 3

Game, Set, Match, just in time for the U.S. Open! Or maybe not.

Controls in this game have much to be desired. I applaud Namco Bandai for attempting to be more realistic; unfortunately this tends to be extremely frustrating. And it is extremely easy to completely miss the return in a volley when the player must...

Smash Court Tennis 3

Namco Bandai's tennis debut takes the reigning PSP court king to a tie-breaker set.

Solid tennis sim; outdoes competition in graphics; solid career mode; game-sharing option

Controls have learning curve; mini-games a drag; true Internet play would have been cool

Namco is prepping Smash Court Tennis 3 for a PSP release and we take a peek at its progress. Hands-on deets inside.

We're not quite sure if Smash Court Tennis 3 is quite our style, but we'll admit that if nothing else, the game takes some time to get used to, and we're still learning. The mini-games are nice distractions, but the Pro Tour Mode will be the real test...
