PES 2008 was a game which was bundled with my PSP Slim & Lite, which I have only recently purchased. This obviously means that being the only PSP game I own at the moment, I've played it quite a bit! For me, PES 2008 assured be of my biggest fear with...
Great immersive game play, lots of modes to explore
Lack of online play, lack of commentary, graphics could be improved

Of the negatives of this game alongside the obvious lack of online play for users. I feel that unless you are a core fan of the Pro Evolution series then you can afford to give this cosmetic upgrade of a game a pass and wait till the next edition!!!!
Great features and interesting story mode
No real new features, lack of online play and graphics need more work

Those who weren't too fond of the latest Pro Evolution Soccer game on the PS3 and 360 needn't worry about this PSP version, as it's similarities are actually closer to that of the PSP version.

PES! In your pocket!
We play to escape, to be entertained, to forget. So football games, in my opinion, should be about extraordinary goals. Thrilling five-all matches, full of passion and flair. Okay, some dogged one-nils, now and again, maybe, but always entertaining,...

Regular readers will remember that we weren't too enamoured with PES 2008 when it hit the new-generation of consoles last October, feeling it was a further stagnation of a once great series – particularly in the light of the excellent FIFA 08 which...

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for PSP Review - We can't help but feel that PES 2008 PSP puts the more illustrious versions of the game to shame, a bit like Barnsley knocking Chelsea out of the FA Cup.

He's got his PES in his hands after that one.
This is a solid and impressive conversion to PSP, and there are flashes of brilliance to remind you of the PES of yesteryear. But the fact still remains that it's awkward, frustrating and doesn't work anywhere near as well as it should.

Pro Evolution Soccer returns for a third PSP outing, and though it still plays a good game of football, it offers relatively few new tricks.

UK REVIEW--Pro Evolution Soccer makes its third annual appearance on the PlayStation Portable with PES 2008. Konami's football game has long been a favourite with fans of the sport, combining deep and rewarding gameplay with the addictive Master League...
Although this is all present and correct in this updated version, the game also suffers from issues that have long plagued the series, and it ultimately does little to warrant the upgrade.

I am an ex-football player and footballfan. Not much gets my blood racing quicker than a really good football game that embodies all that the round ball game has to offer and brings you to a place where you are pumping the air with every goal you score...

Konami's portable footballer returns for a new season on the handheld pitch.
Solid core gameplay; some of the most extensive PS2-to-PSP data transfer seen in a handheld title
Outside of PS2-PSP connectivity, it's PES 2007, good and bad, with different presentation
If you're a die-hard PES fan, the handheld Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is a great way to extend your PS2 experience beyond the couch. The ability to download existing leagues, cups and tournaments from the console game to the PSP is a fine addition to...
In regard to gameplay and aesthetic advancements, PES 2008 is nearly identical to the previous game, and that's a shame. However, the concept of PS2 connectivity gives the game legs that it previously lacked. If you're only picking up one version of...

There'll be no slowdown on PSP, though, right? Right?
New World Tour mode ; Lots of leagues ; Transferring data from PS2
Occasional slowdown ; Feels like PES 6 ; No connection with PS3
After all, PES is PES and no matter what frustrations surround it, the core gameplay is always quite superb - and so a portable Pro Evo is a decidedly good thing. The play mechanics are barely changed from PES 6, however, so if you've already got that,...
If not, however, this is well worth the fee at the turnstiles.
