Monster Hunter: Freedom 2 (PSP) review

Have you ever totted up the number of Capcom game follow-ups that have out performed the earlier editions? Whether it is because they want to release games before they have had enough time to really sort out the experience, or just that some games are...

Killing monsters and enjoyability, one quest at a time

Quests are handed out at the Hunter's Guild in three veins: hunting, slaying, and gathering. Monster hunting quests provide an option of either capturing or killing your beastly objective, whereas slaying quests require that you dispatch the fiend in...

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) review

1.3 million gamers can be wrong.

With buckled controls and awful combat, Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is only above average in multiplayer. Despite that, you feel like you’re sharing a great burden, and ...

In the end, Freedom 2 doesn't disappoint as a whole. The game has, arguably, the largest scope available on the PSP with anywhere between 50-80 hours of gameplay. This is a huge game and fans of the original will probably eat this up and beg for more....

Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Monster Hunter is one of those franchises that every Japanese gamer is familiar with, but most American gamers have never heard of. I admit that until recently, I was in the camp ignorant of the games; I had heard them mentioned, but I had no idea what...

If you own a PSP and want a challenging game, an action game that makes you think, or want to try something new, pick this up. If you only want casual handheld-friendly titles, avoid it. Actually, try it anyway. You may like it.

Forget what you know about monster hunting or this game will eat you alive.

Titanic in scope, the world is huge with tons of items and collectables; enjoyable multiplayer

Staggering difficulty level; daunting learning curve; somewhat repetitive gameplay
