Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) review

It may be not be immediately noticeable but the PSP has been a great home to MGS over the past few years with three games and a graphical novel available for fans of the series to pick up. While the first two games may not have been to everyone's taste...

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Finally, Snake sneaks to PSP for a proper awesome adventure

True, those already familiar with the series will recognise some changes to the controls, with a free-moving camera added to the mix and some of Snake's moveset pared down a little. None of these are to the game's detriment, though – more a fine-tuning...

Gamertell Review: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

Hideo Kojima's new installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise is out. You can insert the triumphant fanfare soon. I will tell you that I wanted to like the game and, well, I didn't like it. I loved it.

It’s gorgeous, well-written, has good voice acting, believable characters, a great soundtrack, a really interesting way of telling the story, the overall army building works better than it did in Portable Ops

The camera controls take a lot of getting used to, some of the robot bosses even as early as the first chapter can be a horrible headache

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops +

Konami marches an old soldier onto the field once too often.

Based on a good game; new unlockable characters; great style

Cheap content; no story; requires hours of tedium to excel

The mechanics of Metal Gear Solid were translated brilliantly onto the PSP with Portable Ops, but we really don't want to spend dozens, if not hundreds of hours, with no goal in sight but more leveling and soldier abductions. It's a stealth action...

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops review for the PSP

Cold blooded, but we think it's hot.

Great story; Excellent rebellion system; Plays well; Online everything; Total package

Menu heavy; Don't walk, don't run

The arrangements were made. The flowers were ordered, black shirts and black ties were ironed and a little tiny hole was dug in the GR back lot for our starving friend, the Sony PSP. We were all ready to bury the little guy, with lots of crying and...

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Kojima Productions proves that the PS2 experience can be well-translated to handheld after all.

It's the MGS game that everyone wanted on the PSP; raises the bar for what PSP games should do with the system's technology

Fidgety camera makes multiplayer tougher; if you don't like Subsistence's online players, not much is different here
