Half-Minute Hero

Too many modern games developers try to fashion their products on things that aren't games. Take a look around: we've got oodles of trendy titles that want nothing more than to imitate the look of the coolest movies and the pacing of the most...

There are also two further unlockables in a 300-second Hero mode with no rewinds and an extreme 3-second stage that YouTube videos make look significantly easier than it actually is. These extras will satisfy the game’s more devout followers, but none...

Poking fun at RPGs, 30 seconds at a time

In truth, the 30-second barrier is flexible to a degree - when you enter a town or village time is frozen and it's even possible to enlist the help of the Time Goddess to turn back the clock

Half-Minute Hero (PSP) review

So time is linear, and NOT cyclical? Okay then.

Initially coming across as a novelty, Half Minute Hero proves itself to be a fantastic little package, covering multiple genres and raising far more smiles than it has any right to. Plus it has some seriously excellent music. Heartily recommended.

Half-Minute Hero

Many games claim to be retro, but has there really been anything as old-school as Half-Minute Hero? Unashamedly revelling in the structure, style and visuals of Japanese 8-bit role-playing games, Half-Minute Hero still offers something new and exciting.

Ideal for portable, quick gaming ; Subtle levels of depth ; Lots of different game types ; Sparkling character and wit ; Surprising amount of gameplay

Lacks a mode with proper level progression ; Quite pricey - how about a Minis version

Half Minute Hero Review

A send up of RPG cliches, internet memes, and video gaming in general, Half Minute Hero is an amazing game.

Half-Minute Hero

That's what she said. When it comes to RPGs, until recently, the PSP has not had many. Most of them have been remakes like Final Fantasy and Persona. The release...

Soundtrack ; Easy to pick and play ; Small amount of load times

Graphics ; Simple Game mechanics ; No replay value

Half-Minute Hero

Sometimes, a game is so perfectly in tune with what you wanted it to be, you almost have to pinch yourself. For most of the time, Half-minute Hero is that game.

Half-Minute Hero

Do you ever wish that RPGs weren't so long and time-consuming? That it didn't require so much grinding? Do you ever long for the days of classic 8-bit RPGs that didn't have elaborate battle systems or intricate leveling or skill system? If so,...

Half-Minute Hero obviously isn't a big budget title, and you might be tempted to stay away from it because of the weird name and outdated graphics and sound. However, if you take the time to sit down and play the game, you'll be pleasantly surprised...

Half-Minute Hero

Half-Minute Hero is one of the most unique games to come out in quite some time. It takes the concept of a "pick up and play game" and runs with it, with gameplay that is perfectly suited for a handheld. Taking the concept of an RPG and making it well...
