Gradius Collection (PSP) review

Destroy them all. Again and again and again

Yes, it only features five games and, yes, they are more or less identical, but it's worth picking up to experience the majestical Gradius Gaiden. Those expecting more games might be disappointed, but it didn't bother us.

Repetitive gameplay at its very best

Or, if you're embarking on a perilous mission to single handedly take-on interminable waves of skyscraper-high alien entities threatening to obliterate the cosmos, we might excuse you anthropomorphising the only thing standing between your spacesuit...

The honor of most impressive goes to next game in the compilation: Gradius Gaiden. It actually released before Gradius IV, despite the compilation's ordering of games and the superior presentation and options of Gaiden. However, it never made it out of...

Gradius Collection Review

Konami's latest retro anthology, Gradius Collection, brings a long legacy of side-scrolling shooter mayhem to the PSP. For fans of the classic space-cave action Gradius made popular, this is a must-have collection. Sporting some welcome enhancements,...

Many many options and bonuses, excellent Save file system

Very Very hard

As a standard warning for this kind of game, if you aren't down for some old school, side-scrolling shooter gaming your not gonna be into Gradius Collection. If you are, this collection is a real treat. Fans should have much love for Konami for...

Gradius Collection Review

Konami's classic space shooter collection is just plain cool.

Ultimately the Gradius Collection is a must have for anyone that wiled away countless hours with these wonderful shooters in the 80's and 90's. If you love space shoot 'em ups and like challenging classic games then this collection is for you.

2-D Shooters

Gradius is one of those titles that (for better or worse) has just as much appeal today as it did when it first came out. In fact, it’s even harder to find this kind of action today when 2D games are considered inferior. But this series proves there...

I must admit, I had never played a game of Gradius in my life before Gradius Collection showed up. I decided to finally give it a try due to the series' excellent reputation, my own past enjoyment of other shooters such as R-Type, and the excellent...

The horizontal shooter genre hasn’t changed much over the years, but with games such as this it’s pretty easy to see that it doesn't really need to.

Gradius Collection

The Gradius series has defined the side-scrolling space shoot-‘em-up since its arrival on the scene back in the 8-bit era. While the genre began with the likes of Galaga and Galaxian, and has expanded with fine titles like Ikaruga and the R-Type...

Five great, genre-defining games in one package ; Great presentation ; Nice set of options and extras

Only the arcade versions ; Full-screen mode looks fuzzy ; Some slowdown issues

The Vic Viper rides again, in fine style. A great collection of classic arcade games that’s well worth having with you on the go.

When it comes to the shooting genre few franchises are as revered as Konami's Gradius. Since it originally came out back in 1985 the series has seen several installments and spin-offs. While a "new" Gradius is reportedly in the works for the...

I have always loved the Gradius franchise and have fond memories of playing the games throughout my childhood. To say I grew up on games like this would be a grievous understatement and I'm sure many of you out there reading this review could say the...
