Optoma's latest pocket projector is fun and solid value.

Good black levels, Very small and lightweight design, Good connectivity

Optional extra adaptors needed for many sources, Pics aren't quite as bright as hoped

Optoma Pico PK301

Around this time last year, we went walkabout with the first truly pocket-sized projector: Optoma's PK101. And frankly, once we'd seen past the allure of its design, we were underwhelmed. The thing just didn't chuck out enough light to actually do...

Looks a decent spec which means you can get a good level of brightness from it. At this brightness level though you cant expect it to kick out thousands of lumens and be using it to project to a large audience but its perfect for small groups of people...

Optoma Pico PK301 review

Optoma's latest Pico has arrived to deliver a much-needed performance boost the pocket projector scene. Does it succeed?

A vast improvement on its predecessor and still charmingly small, but a lack of brightness means it’s still restricted to a life in dark rooms

This portable projector needs no extras: it packs a built in mdeia player so you can plonk it down wherever you are and hit play. Of course, you can lash lots of other gizmos to it for playback too: the HDMI connection means you can beam content from a...

Optoma PK301 Pico Projector

The Optoma PK301 is a pocket DLP projector weighing just 250g and measuring up at a dinky 120 x 70 x 30mm. It features micro SD and USB connectivity alongside mini HDMI, composite and (with adapter) iPod inputs. The good The PK301 boasts one of the...

One of the better pico projectors around, undoubtedly – but you still have to trade off a lot in performance terms for that pocket-friendly size. Optoma PK301 Pico Projector is tagged with Optoma PK301, Pico Projector and Optoma. Select a tag (Optoma...

Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector

When Optoma designed the PK301 Pico Pocket Projector ($400 street), it must have been thinking that in a world of 10- and 12- lumen pico projectors, a 50-lumen model would be king. Indeed, it may be. Although the PK301 is a little bigger and heavier...

Unusually bright. Connects to both computers and video devices. Audio out for headset or speakers

Low volume. Visibly uneven brightness across the screen. No composite video cable included. VGA cable may be too short

The Optoma PK301 Pico Pocket Projector is the brightest pico projector yet, but it's a study in tradeoffs between brightness and size, weight, and battery life.

Optoma PK301

This pico projector is small, sleek, and bright, but a high price and short battery life knock it down a peg.

Attractive design ; Relatively bright picture ; Accurate focusing ring ; Wide range of inputs

Must convert PowerPoint presentations before viewing ; Short battery life ; More expensive than competitors

There are some things we like about the Optoma PK301; of all the pico projectors we've tested recently, it's the easiest and most accurate to focus, and it has a good number of connection options. It's images are also fairly bright. However, we prefer...

Optoma PK301

The pojector comes with a remote that allows complete control of the projectors functions and the on-screen menu system is pretty staightforward. You also get a lot of accessories with this projector, but keep in mind not all regions will have the same...

Higher resolution than most Picos at 854x480 ; Has a microSD card slot for loading presentation slides ; Accepts HDMI Has a USB port to read files from ; 21 measured lumens with internal battery, 52-53 lumens!!! with AC power or XP8000 external battery...

Not particularly bright at 20 lumens when using just battery power (get the battery pack) ; Battery lasts only about an hour with Standard Mode ; Not as small as most Pico projectors ; More expensive than other Pico projectors

Dark environments with no ambient light for best viewing
