JVC DLA-1 review: JVC DLA-1

Editors' note, March 11, 2007 The rating on this review has been lowered from 8.1 to 7.5 due to changes in the competitive marketplace, including the review of the Sony VPL-VW200 and the DLA-HD100 .

Reproduces deep shade of black; solid video processing; excellent feature package; numerous picture adjustments, including LCoS panel alignment.

Primary colors, especially green, are quite inaccurate, making overall color fidelity suffer.

The JVC DLA-HD1 projector does a lot of things very well at a reasonable price for a 1080p projector. If JVC were to improve color accuracy, it would be a world-class product.

JVC DLA-RS1U D-ILA HD Projector Review

What can go wrong with a Full 1080P High Definition Projector with all the benefits of a high end home theater, all the bells and whistles with an MSRP of $6,295? Not long ago these high end projectors were selling in the range of $10,000 and up! Now...

JVC DLA-RS1® is a good high end Full 1080P HD projector. If your budget allows you to spend extra cash on an external scaler, anamorphic lens, fixed frame Cinemascope screen and a dedicated Home Theater environment then definitely this will be a great...

JVC DLA-RS1 vs. Sharp XV-Z20000

For purposes of this comparison, I?ll use our standard five page format: Overview, Image Quality, General Performance, Warranty, and Summary. Since both projectors have full reviews, I certainly won?t go into the full details again, but will...

Two great choices. I've done my part - now - it's up to decide which one is right for you

JVC DLA-RS1 1080p Home Theater Projector Review

There has always been something appealing about JVC's "D-ILA" technology, which is their proprietary version of LCOS. On JVC's projectors, pixelation is virtually invisible, and they have always had a unique filmlike quality that surpasses that of LCD...

JVC DLA-RS1

The RS1 projector is a three chip LCOS design. JVC has been marketing LCOS technology projectors (LCOS is a type of LCD display, LCOS standing for Liquid Crystal On Silicon. LCOS is a reflective technology, like DLP, whereas traditional LCDs are...

Overall, eye-popping rich images, with tremendous "wow factor", and lots of saturation, including almost amazing performance on dark intense colors ; Blackest" black levels of any projector reviewed to date ; A natural "15,000:1 contrast ratio, without...

Not very bright in "brightest" (Dynamic) mode ; HDMI 1.2, not 1.3 (this is the first time I'm listing this in a review as an issue, now that there is one projector shipping with 1.3 ; Fan noise is a bit noisy in High Power, and definitely noisy in High...

The JVC DLA-RS1 not only earns our Hot Product Award, but seriously raises the bar, for future 1080p projectors. I would have to say, that had the RS1 been the first of the "affordable" 1080p home theater projectors to ship, instead of hitting the...
