Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 705HD

Compact & bright projector that produces a lot of light, but lackluster color performance

Generally smooth, clean motion; Very bright for its size

Serious color banding issues; Very noisy fan

The Epson 705HD is a compelling package for the user who needs a powerful projector in a compact package. It has enough light output to illuminate a medium sized screen and is small enough to fit into a carry-on bag. While the fan is somewhat noisy and...

Love this product

I love this projector, I use it with my outdoor theater. I have a 9'x16' screen and it works perfect for it. I have had a lot of people stop by my home and say how good the projector looks. I highly recommend this projector.

Awesome projector

Great buy for a cheap projector.

Replaces my desk by a long shot. I have converted my tower PC desktop into a wall projector. Instead of sitting at my desk hunched over with my chin on my hand, I now lay on my back on my bed with my accessories (keyboard, mouse, xbox controller and...

It would have been a 5 star rating if it had output for sound so I could hook it up to my surround sound, and a coaxial to hook up live tv but I will use my computer to watch tv shows ;) other than that there are none

Best for the price point

Worth every penny, great home theatre on a budget.

I'm not sure about some of the complaints on this board, this is a 600 dollar unit. I've had this unit for almost 1 year and it is absolutely awesome and have logged 1400 hours on it. For the money the picture is great, the options are great, it is...

I would not call these cons but need to put them somewhere and expected at this price point ; The auto iris is noisy but you really cant hear it when you have the surround on normal levels. Expected fr ; The unit can get hot and can heat up the room,...

Great for the money

I've owned this projector for about a month now. I paid 549 for mine and must admit the image quality is nice. I mainly use it to watch movies, sports and games. The black levels are not very good but I can live with it. I got a free mount with this...

Price ; image quality ; Ease of use

No mounting screws included ; Very bad black levels ; 16x10 native res

Super bright and priced right

I gave it 5 eggs mainly because of the price. For $550 I don't expect super dark blacks and 1080p. I use it for sports and video games. I have a 55" LED TV for 'normal' viewing so this is just for fun. I built my own screen with blackout cloth and a...

Brightness is more than enough for watching with all lights on, even on ECO mode ; 720p ; Have a 110" picture and looks great ; Its cheap

Fan is kinda loud, ECO mode helps but you can still hear it during quiet scenes ; Blacks are pretty much grey ; Native 16:10 so when you use 16:9 you get letterbox bars top and bottom ; Ceiling mounting holes are a little flimsy ; Auto Iris makes noise...

Great screen size for the price!

I purchased this in April 2011. A the time it was MUCH less expensive than a 42" HDTV. Money was the deciding factor. So glad I did! My friends love coming over to game (4 player splitscreen still provides each player with ~32" of space with my setup)...

Costs less than a 50" HDTV ; HUGE screen (mine set to ~120") ; Hi-Def (720p) ; Brighter than many other models (2500 lumens) ; LCD (for those afraid of the Rainbow Effect that DLP projectors may cause)

Runs hot (it is a projector after all). Great winter; annoying during summer. Fan constantly runs in order to cool the bulb. This is only noticeable when you aren't gaming. I stopped noticing this after about a week ; No Audio out (HDMI has to be...

Do not buy this projector

If you call Epson, they'll tell you you should have bought a better projector. I'm telling you this too.

Bright and Cheap

Contrast ratio closer to 300:1 than 3000:1 -- There are no blacks -- Only grey. If you project a 16:9 image it will have grey bars at the top and bottom. Not exactly what you would expect from a Home Cinema projector ; Case is so cheap, mounting...
