BenQ W5000 Full HD DLP Projector

If you're after a Full HD DLP projector, BenQ's W5000 ticks most of the right boxes.

The presence of the noise we've just described effectively means you have a choice to make regarding the W5000. If your image tastes are driven predominantly by sharpness, detail and vibrancy, then at £1,359.25 the W5000 is just about as big a...

BenQ W5000 review

A fully featured HD projector that never fails to impress

DarkChip 2 DLP ; Full 1080p ; Good contrast

Expensive

Not the cheapest option available but one that's very hard to resist nonetheless

BenQ W5000 review

Full HD projector, capable of delivering striking three-dimensionality

Simple to operate ; full HD specification ; sharp, detailed, bright, colourful images with good black levels

Big and bulky ; relatively expensive

It's a shame this isn't cheaper: a fine projector if you're prepared to pay a premium for Full HD

BenQ W5000 projector

When the BenQ W5000 arrived all boxed up, you can't help thinking it must be mighty precious to afford so much packaging. But this £1500 projector is also 9.6kg and 492 x 180 x 420mm so there isn't much in the box apart from this monster. But it has an...

Fantastic image quality, bright enough for most rooms, plenty of connections

No horizontal shift, lacking zoom, only HDMI 1.2

Finally the W5000 has a lamp life of 3000 hours at low power and 2000 hours at full power. It comes with a 3 year warranty.

BenQ W5000 DLP Projector Review

If you think you're having a hard time deciding which projector is the best, think about my job... I actually get to see, use, and calibrate most of them and yet I still have a hard time determining

Support for anamorphic aspect ratio ; Excellent post-calibration performance ; Great value given street pricing

Anemic 1.2x zoom lens ; No horizontal lens shift ; Poor out-of-the-box performance ; Overscan anomaly with SD material

BenQ W5000

Contrast-rich picture., High resolution., High-quality video processing, including 24p., Electronic lens-shift.

The user cannot completely deactivate overscan., Factory setup has some color errors.

The BenQ W5000 gives you a lot of projector for the price. The "Dynamic Black" mode renders an impressive contrast ratio, with visible improvements in depth and dynamism. It's easy to forgive the slight deviations in an otherwise natural-looking color...

Review: BenQ W5000 DLP Projector

With excellent blacks and sharpness, not to mention a great price, the BenQ W5000 rivals several more expensive projectors.

If you have been reading our reviews you’ll find that the important differences which affect picture quality are getting harder to distinguish and lots of manufacturers are really getting it right. I guess that's a good thing, since negatives of late...
