BenQ W20000 Full HD DLP Projector

Does BenQ's W20000 Full HD DLP projector do enough to knock John's socks off?

You can also adjust the iris manually if you prefer, and choose from four different contrast-sensitive viewing modes: Cinema, Dynamic, Standard and Photo. All in all this makes for some seriously good black level flexibility that should make the W20000...

A premium projector with great image quality

Stunning picture quality, good brightness levels

Huge, heavy, noisy fan

As BenQ's flagship projector, the W20000 excels for movie watching, with high brightness and great contrast. It's massive and the fan is a little noisy, but it is a good package.

BenQ W20000

If you're on the verge of upgrading your 480p projector and are on the lookout for a high-performance DLP entry, take a look at the BenQ W20000.

Outlook We're delighted with the goodies that the BenQ W20000 has to offer under its shiny white hood, and at such a comparatively reasonable price. On the other hand, it's taking us quite a while to get accustomed to the almost five-figure price...

BenQ W20000 DLP Projector

I had the chance to review and live with BenQ's spectacular 1080p DLP projector, the W10000. I became a big fan of that design. It was sharp, provided excellent contrast, and the design was quiet and simple to use. I still consider it to be one of the...

BenQ's implementation of DynamicBlack has its drawbacks. To get the best performance, you'll need patience. You'll also need to invest a lot of time in going back and forth in the settings. BenQ labeled the manual iris in a backwards fashion. The...

BenQ W20000

One real plus of the BenQ W20000, is that, for a DLP projector, it has a feature rarely found - vertical lens shift. This, combined with a longer throw zoom lens than many DLP projectors have, make the W20000 suitable for shelf mounting, instead of...

Very bright 1080p projector - one of the brightest available, and significantly brighter than most in "best mode". The same is true for brightest modes ; Extraordinary shadow detail ; Very good black levels, thanks combining a Darkchip3 with a dynamic...

1.2:1 zoom is more limiting than the typical 1.6:1 up to 2.1:1 zoom ratios found on most 3LCD and LCoS projectors ; A few projectors can beat the W20000 in terms of black levels ; HDMI 1.2 compatibility, not 1.3 - the W20000 is not upgradeable, and...

All of this means BenQ's got another good projector solution, priced right, and well balanced performance. This is a home theater projector you can really appreciate

BenQ W20000 Home Theater Video Projector Review

Too many of them say they can, but very few actually do.

It’s HUGE!!! – good thing it's pretty; DLP DarkChip3 by Texas Instruments; 1080p (1920 x 1080); 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p; 1200 ANSI lumens; 20,000:1; 35" to 300"; 98"@4m (98"@13.12 feet); 1.2:1; Full 1.07 billion color palette; Anamorphic/ ...

It’s worth saying – this is a serious projector for serious enthusiasts. Set up can be a challenge in a less than ideal environment, given the size of the W20000, the limited throw, and the limited offset capabilities of the unit, but the W20000...

Product Specifications

Most home projectors can't give a crisp image when the scene turns overly dark or overly bright. That's because they have a limited contrast ratio. The BenQ W20000 is different. Built to deliver ultra-high contrast, this projector allows you to see visuals on-screen just as you would see them in real life. Because connoisseurs know the difference, this projector is built to world-class specifications.
