BenQ HT1075 home theater projector review

If you've been on the fence about buying a projector, hop on down and pull the trigger. The HT1075 is a sure thing.

Outstanding color and brightness ; Easy setup ; User-friendly interface ; Surprisingly loud speaker system ; Bright backlit remote

Wireless kit is a pricey add-on ; DLP “rainbow effect” may bother some ; Tends to run warm

We’re thrilled that a projector of such high quality can be had for under $800. That the HT1075 also happens to be extremely user-friendly is a real coup for BenQ. If you’ve been on the fence about buying a projector, feel free to hop on down and pull...

BenQ HT1075

BenQ's HT1075 home-entertainment projector offers reasonably good video quality, 3D capability, and a brightness level suitable for projecting a large image even with the lights on.

Full 1080p in 2D and 3D. Two HDMI connectors, one of which is Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL)-enabled.

Shows some judder and rainbow artifacts in video.

If you insist on a projector that's absolutely free of rainbow artifacts, you'll need to look at three-chip LCD models, like the Editors' Choice Epson 2030. Beyond that, if you want a projector for a small space, you might be better served with the...

The Best $1,000 Projector

We considered 13 projectors and tested seven competing models for more than 50 hours (with $20,000 worth of gear) to find the best $1,000 projector. We found that the BenQ HT1075 has best-in-class color accuracy and superior contrast ratios with light...

Like its predecessor, the HT1075 definitely punches above its weight. It’s one of the few projectors in its price range that has accurate colors. It has a bright, punchy image with low noise. You’d have to spend a lot more to do better.

BenQ HT1075 DLP Projector Review

You wouldn't expect the type of performance this BenQ delivers for the price, but it will impress even a fussy videophile and blow away the newbie.

Bright, punchy picture; Excellent color; Compact size

Mediocre blacks; High vertical offset with limited lens shift

Extremely bright, Excellent value both for Home Entertainment and Home Theater, Excellent color – right out of the box is extremely good, and calibrated, its truly excellent, Vertical lens shift (modest amount) helps out with placement flexibility,...

Lacks a dynamic iris, thus unimpressive black level performance means less than great dark scenes, A little on the noisy side (fan noise), but typical for the price point, Documentation – not bad, but could be better, comes on disc (not everyone has a...

Was working good

Projector has been working great until recently. Now it automatically shuts down randomly and gives me a TEMP error. Sometimes this is only after running it for only 15 minutes and it doesn't really feel hot. I will post back after the customer service...

Great projector in my opinion. Have it on a 150" screen and it looks great. It took awhile to get used to playing games on it but that is a personal preference since it is nothing normal in size.

Just recently started having some temperature errors with the projector. I will be getting in touch with customer support during working hours on a fix or RMA.

Hard to Beat on a Budget

Using with BenQ ceiling mount. Screen: 100 inch Elite screens Vmax 2

Fantastic for my small home theater on a budget -Great Value overall -Fast clear picture - Great picture quality -1080P -3D -120mhz - Built in speaker is decent - Bright enough for my 100 inch screen

- Throw is shorter than expected - DLP rainbows do appear from time to time mostly on white text with dark backgrounds - Blacks and dark grey's are a bit faded but acceptable for this price range.

amazing projector, this is the must have

I've had this thing for a while now, it's unbelievable. I have it hooked up to my pc for gaming and movies when people come over, even with one light on in the room the picture is very vivid. I have it up I think at around 102". people that come over...

lamp gets pretty hot, and make sure you figure out how to clean the inside easily as do all projectors

Great Projector - VERY SHORT THROW!

After having it for a while, I'm glad I have it, I just have to reconfigure the entire room to accommodate it.

After a ton of research, this projector lives up to its laurels - accurate out-of-the-box color, bright picture, great contrast ratio, hardly noticeable rainbows, relatively quiet operation. Lots of features. I like it

Man, the throw distance on this thing is such that in 11 feet I can't make it fit the 66" diagonal wall space I have. Right now it's sitting in the middle of the room whereas my old projector could sit in the back and zoom down to a reasonable size. If...
