Will this produce the prints you want?
A bit slow perhaps, but the Epson Stylus Photo 1400 still produces stunning photo prints making it an ideal choice for those requiring larger than A4 photo output.

Epson's Stylus Photo 1400 won our Best Buy award last year, thanks to its low price and excellent photo quality. It takes the same six cartridges as Epson's R285 and R360. Like the R285, we had problems with the default colour profile.

Need to print larger than A4? The Stylus Photo 1400 is one for the shortlist.
If you're buying primarily to print photographs larger than A4, the Stylus Photo 1400 is an excellent choice. It produces very high-quality photographic output and although it's not particularly fast or cheap to run, it sits in the middle of the...

Epson's new dye-based 13-inch printer has style and prints large photos, but its black and white prints are less than perfect
High-quality colour photo printing ; Long-lived prints ; CD and DVD-label printing ; Many paper options
Black and white prints not perfectly neutral ; Large footprint ; No card reader
Our biggest issue with the 1400 is its black and white performance. Since it doesn't include the light-black and light-light-black cartridges that the R2400 and some other Epson printers do, the 1400 creates some shades of grey by creating composites...
As a result, it can be difficult to achieve a true neutral black and white print. We typically saw a slight cyan cast when we printed black and white images we knew were neutral to begin with

Ultra quiet inkjet ; Very detailed prints ; Accurate colour potential ; Relatively cheap inks ; Very well built
Cartridges too small for A3 ; Colour management best left to Photoshop ; Slow to print, long to dry ; Price Comparison ; Epson Stylus Photo 1400
Epson provides the usual raft of software with the printer, although it's best to hand over colour adjustment to Photoshop instead of Epson's own utility. In fairness, unless you have some serious printing package installed, the same applies to all...

It is only very occasionally I get to see an A3+ printer. This prints quickly even at that large size. However the overall size of the unit is not as big as some other A3+ models.
Certainly you will need a good amount of desk space for the A3+ printer from Epson, the dimensions are 60x30x20cm when closed, you will probably need to add another 30cm to the middle depth figure to have paper inserted in the 'stand up' rear and the...
Maybe another 18cm to the 20cm height for the paper waiting to be printed.

The replacement for the legendary Epson 1280/90 range is here, bringing lost cost A3 printing to the masses. Duncan Evans fires it up for testing.
Up to A3+ papers; Very good build quality; 6-cartridges to minimise costs; 1.5pl droplet size for very fine detail; Very quiet; Rich colours; Direct printing to CD/DVD
Driver support for Windows ICM, not WCM for Vista
There are plenty of options in the printer driver, crucially including ones so that non-Epson papers that come with their own profiles - like fine art papers - can be used for best results. The results using three different types of Epson's own papers...
The glossy paper was frankly poor, but the Premium semi-gloss and the matt paper (within certain parameters) were fine with plenty of detail and good colours. The speed was hardly hare-like but at least it was very quite. So quiet in fact that the 1400...
