Realism. The change in the guitar design also makes the guitar both look and feel alot more real than previous designs, and the touch sensetive pads allow for great guitar solos. The microphone addition is like having an improved guitar hero game and...

Disappointingly, this year leaves much ground for improvement
A colossal disappointment, especially after last year's Project 8, and most certainly in the face of EA's Skate. The one thing this franchise needs is a good year off. Activision, let the Hawkman put his feet up... on a sofa.

There is no denying the popularity of the Tony Hawk's series of games; seriously this guy sells games like the Coca-Cola company sell cans of soda.
Three story modes ; Nail the Trick
Essentially the same as Project 8
That obviously leaves a quandary, if there are no other competitors are you really pushing yourself to the limit? After the somewhat disappointing Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam it was obvious that the series needed a rehash and so the developers set their...
Of course before this was released EA dropped the Black Box bombshell which really upped the ante, . SKATE was released

It's back to basics for the Hawk, and about bloody time too
Project 8 is a breath of fresh air after the Jackass-centric previous games. Furthermore, the inclusion of Sixaxis tilt for balancing and an open world without hide-the-load-screen sections make this the best Hawk game since the third.

It's no secret that the Tony Hawk series has being in a rather depressing downward spiral ever since the THUG acronym was coined - now way back - in 2003. Ever since Tony went underground a never ending line of complaints have been directed straight at...
Many people hated the new layouts… even more hate the Jackass antics introduced and some despised questionable changes to core gameplay mechanics. It seemed obvious to everyone that the series needed drastic changes to get back on track and now finally...

Not many franchises can say that they single-handedly launched a genre, but that's exactly what Neversoft's Tony Hawk series did back in 1999. Annual sequels have come ever since, some of which have made major changes to the skateboarding formula,...
This year's game, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, starts with last year's game as a basic formula, but shuffles around the goal structure and game progression. It's the same solid skating base that the series has had all along, but a smattering of...

Tony Hawk's Project 8 is the first game in the series to be designed from the ground up for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But Tony's not quite ready to leave the old systems behind just yet, so a version of Project 8 has also been released for the...
The game has the same sort of skating goals that you'd expect from the series, but it makes a number of seemingly arbitrary control changes that'll stand out for you whether you've played other versions of Project 8 or not. The end result is a game...

Tony Hawk appeared on the Xbox 360 last year, but Tony Hawk's Project 8 marks the first time that the series has been built from the ground up for the current generation of consoles. As you might expect, not being saddled with the constraints of the...
The gameplay is as freeform and as technical as it's ever been, with some smart changes on that front that are enough to keep fans of the series interested, while a new tutorial is aimed at getting new players up to speed. Unfortunately, some technical...
