The Last of Us: Left Behind

Naughty Dog's masterpiece gets a brief but beautiful expansion

A great story that adds new dimensions ; The best visuals found on PS3 ; New twists and tactics for the combat ; Perfectly paced

Over in two to three hours ; Fighting will still aggravate the haters

Left Behind is The Last of Us in microcosm: one of the most absorbing, intense and emotionally-charged experiences you’ll find in a video game. It’s short, and you might still not like the combat, but if you loved The Last of Us it’s not to be missed.

The Last of Us review

It so often seems to be the way that the most interesting games happen towards the end of a console's lifecycle. Maybe it's that some of the commercial pressure is relieved as all eyes turn towards upcoming new hardware - in this case the PlayStation 4...

With as much personality in its environments as its characters, The Last of Us is in equal parts harrowing and moving, and a rare sign of the most mainstream side of videogames growing up. Thank goodness it didn't try to simply ape cinema.

From the makers of Uncharted comes The Last of Us, a zombie game with a heart

Polished, dark and captivating, The Last of Us is a grisly gem that no PlayStation 3 owner should miss

The Last of Us

A brutal and affecting masterpiece that gives new meaning to 'survival horror.'

Immersive story ; Impressive graphics and lifelike animation ; Rich characters and tense, gritty atmosphere ; Effective mix of stealth, action and survival horror

Can feel overly linear and scripted ; AI isn't consistently brilliant

The important thing is that all these elements work seamlessly. The stealth controls are simple, intuitive and predictable. Surprise attacks and grabbing moves come naturally at the tap of a button. Holding the R2 button makes Joel listen, darkening...

The Last of Us

‘Kill or be killed' has been a key theme for videogames ever since the first Space Invader fired a pixellated-laser at a plucky-unnamed cannon prowling along the bottom of the screen, a clearly defined dichotomy that has entrenched itself by connecting...

The Last of Us PS3 Review

The Last of Us features zombies, though it's more reminiscent of The Walking Dead than it is Resident Evil. The story merely uses the outbreak as a backdrop and instead focuses on the more interesting things, the effect that it has had on humanity for...

The Last of Us features characters that are worth caring about, inhabiting a beautifully realized post apocalyptic world, and mechanically everything largely works smoothly, all of which make it a great Naughty Dog send-off for the PS3, and an...

The Last of Us

Games Xtreme delves into the Last of Us for PS3 and finds the swansong of this generation to be something truly amazing.

The Last of Us is a game you need to own if you have a PS3. Don't mistake it for just another zombie game – it's far from it.
