Mass Effect 3

In the interests of full disclosure it would be best to admit that I am a huge fan of the Mass Effect series and have been eagerly waiting for Mass Effect 3 since it was officially revealed during the 2010 VGAs. This makes the task of reviewing the...

Despite its disappointing linearity Mass Effect 3 is still undoubtedly the first must-play title of 2012

Mass Effect 3 Review

Mass Effect 3 is a remarkably satisfying conclusion to a beloved trilogy, and a poignant and memorable role-playing action game in its own right.

Fantastic, moving story that balances plot and character ; Past and present choices impact the game in wonderful and unexpected ways ; Much-improved level design leads to challenging, exciting battles ; Fantastic art design makes great use of color and...

Some glitches and bugs ; Galactic travel and scanning aren't much fun

The series' focus on player choice is as vital as it has ever been in Mass Effect 3. The effects of choices in previous installments have an impact in extraordinary ways here, more so than in Mass Effect 2. Sometimes the nods to prior choices are...

For the sake of this review, I will judge the game based on my experience, based off my Commander Shepard (a male who looked like the guy that you picked on in grade school). This review will talk about the ramifications of MY choices throughout the...

The story continues from previous saves, which gives the player ownership over what happens ; Graphically, the game is gorgeous ; The Sci-Fi soundtrack still makes me smile ; The game generates true emotion for those who have invested the time and...

Series moves further away from the RPG model and becomes more of an action shooter ; Can get glitchy (once had an entire conversation with an empty screen) ; For some, the ending can be a disappointment

Also, the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 3 is enabled for Kinect. Calling out squad commands during battle, and using your voice to change weapons is neat, and all dialogue options can be made via voice. It gives a whole new perspective to the series.

Mass Effect 3

Despite its near universal praise, Mass Effect 2 was a major disappointment to me following the original. Not only was Mass Effect my first BioWare role-playing experience, but it was one of the first Western RPGs I'd ever completed. The characters,...

If you’ve read the leaked script, then you won’t face too many surprises. Even a lot of the dialogue is word-for-word.

How would you handle it if you found out the world was ending? How would you react if a hostile military force arrived in your city intent of its destruction and your potential enslavement? Many of us, me included, probably wouldn't be able to handle...

It’s the end of Shepard’s story. What does that mean to you? For me, it means the end of one of the best video game and science fiction franchises ever. The final scenes take a decidedly classic sci-fi turn that surely won't make everyone happy, but...

A satisfying end to an epic trilogy.

Is Mass Effect 3 a good way to finish the trilogy? Looking over the game in its entirety, it certainly is. The focus on "galactic readiness" is an evolution of the relationship system that helps define the series, while a stronger focus on action, a...

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect, over the years, has been quite the chameleon. At first, it started as a pretty RPG heavy title that involved tons of customization and obtuse design choices. Then it evolved into possibly the most streamlined product Bioware had ever produced
