The controls really messed up this game, which had limited interest for me anyway. I couldn't physically point to upper right or upper left because the wiimote thought I was pointing straight up. Even if the controls weren't random, the fact that...

This is a great party game! Use the Wii remote with the nunchuck and shake the maraccas to the rythem of DE SAMBA! (functionality is similar to a dance mat game, however with this you use your hands).Very entertaining, with lots of...

Originally conceived by Sonic Team, Samba De Amigo first made its appearance in the arcades in 1999, around a year later it made it to the home at a time when SEGA only made games for their own consoles, appearing (with a pair of maracas nonetheless)...
Samba De Amigo may have its problems, although it’s still good and silly (just wait until you hear some of the unlock-able maraca noises) maraca shaking fun. It’s just a shame that Gearbox couldn’t have completely got around the current limited motion...
Obviously this isn’t where the Amigo story ends, as eight years after the SEGA console release, the rhythm music game attempts to turn Nintendo's controllers into a pair of maracas.

While rhythm isn't one of my strong talents, I have always enjoyed the fun that can be had with playing any rhythm based games. What's even more fun is watching other people make complete fools of themselves and samba de amigo doesn't disappoint.
Fun to play ; A great party game ; Lot of songs and downloadable content is coming soon
Controls are too awkward ; Some songs have been repeated from pervious games ;

Before fake plastic guitars, before karaoke video games, before the tap tap tap of Ouendan. Before all this, back when the Dreamcast was still a going concern, Samba de Amigo popularised what is now the rhythm action genre.
Overall this is not a game to take too seriously - but in a good way. Go with the carnival atmosphere, get some friends over, add some snacks and drinks and you are well on your way to a great evening in. And it is this ability to bring the arcade...

A shiny pair of bright red maracas were the first plastic instrument that found a place in my home. They sat proudly on the shelf in the early '00s long before plastic drums and guitars brought the rhythm genre kicking and screaming to the masses years...
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a party game to enjoy with a few friends it is still a great game to pick up and have fun over the weekend. Conversely, if you are the kind of gamer who likes to learn song layouts, practices all the way to Carnegie...
However, no matter how much I loved the Dreamcast version of Samba De Amigo, and no matter how happy I was I found one of the few copies available at launch, I always knew it was a flawed game. And I am sure even the most ardent fan would agree that...

Samba De Amigo for Wii Review - If you're after a simple, lively party game, give Samba De Amigo a shot, but if you're after a precise, addictive high score rhythm game like Guitar Hero, look elsewhere.

There is perhaps no greater authority on all things Dreamcast than this writer's girlfriend (this bit may not be true); when questioned about her thoughts towards the semi-legendary Samba de Amigo she said “it was the Wii before the Wii...
However strange that may sound (particularly the last part), there is an element of truth to both sentiments. Firstly the Wii and Samba de Amigo – one of the classic rhythm games, and certainly one of the first to suggest that the central theme needn’t...
