Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics

If the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics were anything like Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games they'd be more fun. And snowier. And also happen in October 2009 as opposed to February 2010. But it's not exactly like blatant accuracy is what Sega...

It's clearly been strategically geared towards a Christmas release, and that's definitely what it's best at. There's bound to be plenty of cynics, but it's a lot better sitting around with your family and playing this than other Christmas staples,...

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii, DS) review

Last year we saw a gaming event that many thought would never happen, a pairing of once bitter rivals that was enough to give fanboys a wet dream. Yes, the gaming legends Mario and Sonic finally made it into a game together, a sporting game centred...

The regular events, although a little lacking in variety, offer something for the sports enthusiast, and the dream events bring something to the table for the Mario and Sonic fans. It's certainly on a par with its predecessor in terms of quality. The...

Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (Wii)

N.B.: DS review here. Video gaming's most famous duo, the plump platforming hero Mario and his speedy new bumchum Sonic, make a return to the world of sports by competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The second in what's likely to be a...

Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics is, at the end of the day, a huge party playing host to two most loved franchises and that's what it was designed for. It may be incredibly simple to work through the single player mode, but entertaining friends...

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Wii Review

If you never played the original game of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games then you missed out. This was an absolute gem of a game on the Wii and just showed you what you can do with the console for controls and fun in gaming. So now we have our...

Great new sports to try your hand at ; Lots of games to keep you going ; New features for controls

Controls are little off at times ; Party modes are boring

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

There's some multiplayer fun to be had in this winter sports collection, but you'll have to sift through a lot of lousy stuff to find it.

Skiing and snowboarding are fun ; Some dream events make good use of theme settings ; A few of the games work well with friends

Too many events are played the same way ; Speed skating relies too heavily on waggling ; AI opponents are too easy to beat

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii) review

The terrible twosome...

While the shortcomings are obvious, this is a cut above most Wii-based mini game fare. There's so much humour and charisma bleeding out of Mario & Sonic that it's almost impossible not to enjoy it.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games [Wii] Review

The rivals are back to bring you this wintery version of the original game.

Interesting winter sports selection; Simple but varied controls; Balance Board makes some games more realistic; Great for parties

No online option; Irritating voiceover at times; Does not use MotionPlus

Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games (Wii)

Christmas is fast approaching, and the opportunity to play a game that is based off of snow and ice may just be what the seasonal fairy ordered. Nintendo and Sega, looking to improve on the reception of 2007's Beijing Olympic Games outing between the...

Play as a Mii ; Range of characters ; Festival mode ; Fun takes on winter sports in Dream Events ; Multiplayer

No changeable difficulty settings ; Training mode not as helpful as DS version ; Lacklustre Party Mode ; Poor crowd graphics ; No Olympic Records listed of events ; Less realistic than DS version ; Unresponsive controls ; Not able to change between...

Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games for the Wii, has none of the charm of its hand held compatriot on the DS. Though things are far more fun when you play the game alongside friends rather than computer controlled players, the lack of...

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Mario and Sonic face off once more, and the results are grand.

All of the Olympic Events are unlocked from the start ; Festival mode is a great training and single-player mode ; Great Wii Remote controls along with smart Balance Board integration ; Plenty of modes to participate in ; Dream Events are fantastic...

Dream Events still need to be unlocked ; Timing is still an issue with some events ; No multiplayer when using the Balance Board

The funny thing is, even reviews from people who gave this game a lower score than they gave to the first game say that the game is better than the first, but it wasn't enough of an improvement so they gave it a low score. So yeah, I've always felt...
