A Boy and His Blob (Wii) review

Booting up A Boy And His Blob for the very first time is a bit like stepping into a time machine and emerging somewhere at the end of the nineteen eighties, slumped on a couch in your pyjamas, watching The Raccoons. It's difficult to put a finger on...

Had it not been for some of the more frustrating developments further along the line A Boy And His Blob would undoubtedly be coming with a full-on recommendation. Unfortunately it's let down by a handful of issues. If you are a Wii owner looking for...

A Boy And His Blob

2009 is the 20th anniversary of A Boy and His Blob, a cute little platform game with a heap of puzzle goodness mixed in for good measure. The original was released on the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System and quickly garnered a cult following, one...

WayForward has pulled off what Good Feel was unable to with Wario Land: The Shake Dimension - they've crafted a 2D platform title that looks stunning, keeps the gamer hooked throughout thanks to its perfectly executed gameplay and clever mix of...

a boy and his blob

A Boy and His Blob is like a long walk on a Sunday afternoon: There's no rush because the beef's got at least another hour in the oven and the football won't be on for another two.

Lovely art style ; Pleasant pace

Poor boss battles ; Difficult controls

The game's not going to get your adrenaline pumping. It's not Generic Shooter X on steroids, or By The Numbers RPG on speed. It's the kind of game Postman Pat would have made had he tried bedroom coding as a kid. It's like a long walk on a Sunday...

A Boy and His Blob

It was after a full day's play on Modern Warfare 2, my brain a tangle of dying civilians, gung-ho American patriotism and the sheer noise of contemporary gaming, that I started A Boy and His Blob. Far be it for D+PAD to try and reference Infinity...

That said I’m loath to criticise A Boy and His Blob too much, such is the frequency with which it successfully hits its notes of wide-eyed innocence; the message of friendship and co-operation is delivered with a grace and an absence of pretension all...

A Boy and his Blob

Just a case of 'bean there, done that'?

Lovingly crafted, sure, but for a game revolving around the rich variety of jelly beans A Boy And His Blob can be flavourless stuff.

A Boy and His Blob

A Boy and His Blob is a charming all-ages affair that one-ups the game it's based on in virtually every conceivable way.

A Boy and His Blob

It?s been over two decades since the NES original?A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia was released to hordes of adoring fans ? myself included. Since that time, the classic disappeared off my radar, and I doubt I would have ever thought about it...

Don?t pass this one by. Sitting at less than half the standard price of a 360 or PS3 game, A Boy and His Blob offers more entertainment and replay value than most Wii titles can attest to.

A Boy and His Blob Review

Blob, come on!

WayForward has revived a wayward one-hit wonder from the late 80s, and produced a rare puzzle-platfomer exclusively for the Wii. The hand-drawn graphics have a certain charm that you don’t get with Full HD graphics, and the puzzles are mind bogglingly...

A Boy and his Blob

In 1989, Absolute Entertainment published a bizarre puzzle-platformer called A Boy and His Blob for the NES. It featured a refugee alien blob that could change into a variety of shapes when fed different flavors of jellybeans by his young earth...
