When I first saw this game advertised I was overjoyed - I had forgotten about Mario64 and hearing about its imminent release on DS brought back all sorts of nostalgic memories on my N64, all those years ago...
Brings back memories of the original - nice time waster
Absolutely ridiculous controls - if only DS had an analog stick

Joined by his friends, it's time for Nintendo's plucky plumber to hop, skip and jump onto dual screen
Well, for one thing, the basic plot hasn't changed much. Princess Peach must be saved from the clutches of evil (again!). But if Mario is the main face of the game - well it's his name in the title - at least he's got some friends to help him out this...
Other Nintendo favourites with their special abilities - Luigi has his high jump, while Yoshi can trap enemies in eggs and Wario can smash big blocks - are on hand too. And collecting power flowers gives each character even better skills such as...

Old vs new, vs old... oh, this is confusing
Crisp, colourful, stunning. Super Mario 64 is perfect to showcase the DS’ capabilities Good voice acting, although it can be repetitive, but great stereo sound and musical score.

The Nintendo 64 classic is back with new characters, stages, and puzzles. Start off as Yoshi and rescue Mario, Luigi, and Wario. Multiplayer mode requires just one game cartridge and four DSs. The minigames are so much fun that they alone are worth the...

Nintendo has always been known for making great First Party titles. However, Nintendo learned a valuable lesson with the release of the GameCube. For the first time in the history of the company, they released a console without a Mario title. So it...
Overall, Super Mario 64 DS is one of two games available at launch that I would recommend owning. While the controls really take something away from this title, the game is just so much fun and brings back so many fond memories that it is worth the...
Mario 64 is a title that not only showed the world how to make a 3D platformer but is also one of the best Mario titles in recent memories. However, not all things are perfect in this Nintendo DS flagship title.

They packed all the Mario-in-Wonderland gameplay of Super Mario 64 for the ol' N64 into a DS version, cleverly titled Super Mario 64 DS...
Back in the days of the N64, Super Mario 64 took the side-scrolling, platform-hopping, bauble collecting series to a whole new dimension, that being the 3rd, making it a deep, sprawling 3D adventure that was unreservedly lauded because of it. They...

In closing, Super Mario 64 DS is definitely the quintessential "killer app" of the Nintendo DS launch, and I recommend it to all DS owners. It's really a shame that a well-updated port of an eight-year-old classic is the DS' killer app at launch, but...
Port or not, this is a killer gaming experience any way you look at it, and I recommend it to those who have played (and even mastered) the original just as much as I do the newbies out there (and for you guys, I'm jealous; you're experiencing, for the...

The future is now...again.
Good delivery; Groovy extra mini-games; An improved Super Mario 64
Which was interesting eight years ago; Control and camera issues; Boring multiplayer
It is supremely difficult reviewing a launch title for a strange new system like the DS, but in this case, you should already have a good idea what to expect. Super Mario 64 DS is a solid platformer that offers some notable alterations to a proven game...
However, it's a little odd looking so far back into Nintendo's past as we invest in its future, and you can't help but feel a sense of d'j" vu while traipsing through what is essentially a port. That's not exactly riveting for a launch title. Mario...

Battle up to three friends in Wireless Versus mode, which you can play with only one Super Mario 64 DS game card. Each of the four main characters has multiple jumping moves that cover great horizontal and vertical distances. Each has unique moves: Yoshi can eat enemies and turn them into eggs that he can throw; Mario can punch, kick and wall-jump to great heights; super-strong Wario can break certain blocks; and Luigi can jump incredibly high. Power Flowers give each character even cooler powers, like invisibility, fire breath or the power to float through the air.Answering an invitation, Mario, Luigi and Wario set out for a royal party with Princess Peach. When they arrive at the castle, though, they find it strangely empty. Meanwhile, Yoshi awakes from a rooftop nap to find the castle eerily silent, with Mario, Luigi and Wario nowhere to be seen. Yoshi soon discovers that Bowser has pilfered the castle's Power Stars and imprisoned the Toads in the castle's immense collection of paintings. It's up to the dynamic dino to figure out what happened to Mario, Luigi and Wario and save the day.
